4.0 out of 5 stars Busting makes me feel good
Ghostbusters: Ghost Busted volume 1 is great introduction to the world of manga. The art work is incredible never before have I seen "The boys in grey" looking so sharp. The stories make some excellent reading with the quick quips you would expect to hear Bill Murray and the rest of the cast say if this were Ghostbusters 3. Thought much of the writing seems to take a page...

2.0 out of 5 stars Silly and eminently forgettable
This manga addition to the Ghostbusters world contains two stories. In the first story, the Ghostbusters are divided and conquered by an old foe who has decided that it is time for payback. But, there is someone behind him as well, and if the boys are going to put this one to bed, they are really going to have to use their heads and their hearts. The second story is...

The stories make some excellent reading with the quick quips you would expect to hear Bill Murray and the rest of the cast say if this were Ghostbusters 3. Thought much of the writing seems to take a page or two the later seasons of The Real Ghostbusters, were the humor did tend to go overboard at times. With the 25th anniversary of the first film coming up this is a fun way to celebrate one of the best comedy films of all time.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Legitimate Phenomena..., August 26, 2010
This review is from: Ghostbusters: Ghost Busted (v. 1) (Paperback)
I don't get all of the hate for this book. It gets a bit slow in the middle, but it's hilarious through and throughout. It's not much like the movies, but more like the cartoon show. If you read it comparing it to the movies, it will most certainly disappoint; but if you compare it to the cartoon, it's awesome.

The second story is entitled The Devil Wears Nada, and pits the Ghostbusters against an ancient Sumerian goddess of fashion.

OK, where do I start? The original Ghostbusters was a light-hearted comedy that treated the Ghostbusters in a semi-serious and reasonable manner. This book suffers from all of the weaknesses that the manga genre implies. The stories are goofy to the point of ridiculousness, and beyond. The characters themselves act and react as you might expect the Ghostbusters to do, but the situations are often so goofy and outlandish that the story itself becomes silly and eminently forgettable.

But, on the other hand, if you are a manga fan, and a Ghostbusters fan, then you might like this unique and off-beat take on the boys in gray. You might like it...but I didn't. I say that if you want to read more Ghostbusters adventures, then get Ghostbusters: The Return by Sholly Fisch, which is much, much better.

2.0 out of 5 stars not the ghostbusters I remember, April 27, 2009

The stories in this book were very child like and didn't have any connection to the orginal movies or cartoon. The characters have the same names, but that is about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars They've been turned into a manga?!, August 31, 2009
This review is from: Ghostbusters: Ghost Busted (v. 1) (Paperback)
Worst idea ever! Seriously who came up with this F***ed up idea of crossing something like Ghostbusters and manga?
Seriously I would only think a bunch of sell-outs would go for the stupid horrible anatomically incorrect anime/manga style drawings.

I don't care if you are a ghostbuster fan, don't get it. If your one of those 13 year old anime freaks, sure go ahead and rot you brains out with it.

Story sucked. I liked the original ghostbuster jokes and ideas. This is nothing.
