Ed Naha's "Ghostbusters II" is hardly great literature, but it is a fun book. It was clearly based on the shooting script of the film and a stack of photos from the set; thus Naha takes great glee in repeated references to Ray Stantz's "hedgehog" haircut, but omits various moments added to the film in the production process and includes several deleted scenes.
Like most viewers, I found "Ghostbusters II" enjoyable but inferior to its predecessor. Because I am a huge fan of the original "Ghostbusters", there are several moments in the sequel that either please or annoy me to a greater extent than would be the case for the average viewer. Since he was working from the shooting script, Naha omits both some of my favorite scenes from the movie (such as Winston saving Ray and Egon from the burning pictures) and some of my least favorites (such as the entire "ghost train" sequence). I found that the omission of the annoying things had a greater positive impact on my enjoyment of the story than the negative impact of the omission of good things.
As another reviewer has pointed out, the version of the climactic confrontation with Vigo is much shorter and simpler in Naha's book (and in the shooting script) than it was in the final movie. This did not feel disappointing to me, however -- the book is a sufficiently enriched experience compared to the film that, by the time the Ghostbusters enter the museum, the story feels ready to close. Naha's book, which I read in one sitting, has a better ending than that of the movie, and is, in my opinion, superior to the film overall.

The second Ghostbusters story isn't as good as the first one. Basically, putting the whole little kid thing in there isn't too flash, and I think perhaps it was almost too much of a jump in time.
That being said, the spook and slime parts are pretty decent, as it is up to the boys to save the place yet again, with no respect.

A pretty decent movie novelization by Ed Naha., September 12, 2002
This novelization of the hit movie "Ghostbusters II" is done fairly well. For the main part he recreates the film mostly accurately (though I believe he misspells Winston's last name). He also adds some extra info, such as a nicely done scene at the very end that expands on one of the shots in the end credits. It is, however, a bit short and simplistic. Mr. Naha should have consulted the movie novelizations by George Gipe (the best I have ever read), but as it stands, this is certainly a passable job.
