Book Description

September 30, 2009 Haunted America
A ghostly captain who forever guards her steamboat, an elusive lady in green who roams Carew Tower, spectral lovers who reunite in museum halls-these are among the souls who walk Cincinnati's forgotten paths. Take a chilling tour with Teri Casper and Dan Smith, owners of Cincinnati Tours, Inc., as they recount the infamous murder of Imogene Remus by her bootlegger husband and recall the tale of a young World War II soldier who is still searching for a way home from Union Terminal. Wander among the lonely mausoleums of Spring Grove Cemetery and listen for strange echoes in Music Hall to meet the otherworldly residents of the Queen City.

2.0 out of 5 stars A history lesson, January 5, 2010
This review is from: Ghosts of Cincinnati (OH): The Dark Side of the Queen City (Haunted America) (Paperback)
I was excited to hear that there was a book about Cincy, since I've lived close to it all my life. I was about half-way through the book and realized it was more about history than ghost tales. Each chapter will talk extensively about a location and the last two or so paragraphs will read something like, "such and such ghost is said to haunt there". No real story or experiences.

What was most disappointing was the chapter about the Taft Museum of Art. One good thing was that the book made me go look up some of the places it talked about. When I visited the Taft Museum web site and read the history section, the wording sounded oddly familiar when describing the house.

"and is considered one of the finest examples of Federal architecture in the Palladian style in the country"

"now considered as one of the finest suites of domestic murals dating from before the Civil War."

Coincidence?

Again, it's good to hear about some local historical sites, but would have been better to hear about ghosts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very well written, February 21, 2011
This review is from: Ghosts of Cincinnati (OH): The Dark Side of the Queen City (Haunted America) (Paperback)
Fun read about Cinci. I picked it up and a few other books during the big snow storm this year. It wasn't too scary but very interesting.
