Willie's Leg,
By Tigers#1 (Versailles, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ghost's Grave (Hardcover)
Summer had just begun when Josh moved to a new town. He thought he might join a summer baseball league to make some new friends. When he told his mom about it she had some bad news. Turns out, his step dad has to go to India for his job and his mom is going with him. Where is Josh going to stay? At his great aunts whom he's never met before. When he gets off the train he is greeted by an older lady with a beat up pick-up truck. Her house is gross and the first night wasn't too good considering his aunt shot a bat in the house. Things get better when he finds an old tree house in the woods behind his aunts house. Josh brought books out there and a bean bag to read. He left and when he returned to the tree house the books weren't where he left them. Suddenly a ghost pops into the window. The ghost wants to ask a favor of Josh. This ghost, Willie, wants Josh to dig up his leg and bury it with the rest of his body. Will Josh do it or will he run off and never go back again?
I loved this book! it was a total mystery and that is what I have always loved to read. I was done with this book in three days! That is a record for me. I usually don't get into reading, but this book was just great. I didn't have any dislikes. I liked the whole book. I would recommend this book to people who like mysteries and it is a book that can be read by boys and girls.

When Josh's parents go to India for a new job, Josh goes to his aunt Ethel's house in Carbon City, Washington. When he gets there he finds a treehouse that he likes to read in. One day when he comes back he sees that his book was moved then he hears a deep voice. He meets a ghost named Willie who died when he was mining. Josh does a favor for Willie by burying his leg where his body is. When Josh is digging up Willies leg, he finds a metal box with money in it. Things get exciting when the owner of the money realizes the box is missing! I liked the book but it's not the best book I ever read but I have to say it is very interesting. It is interesting because you never know what will happen next and there are alot of problems happening at once.

A mystery story
The Ghost Grave by Peg Kehret is about a boy named Josh who goes to his aunt's because his stepdad has to go to work. At his aunt Ethel's House he finds a tree house and in the tree house is a ghost named Willie who died in a mining accident. Josh and Willie become friends. Later in the book, Josh is digging in the grave yard because Willie wants his leg bones burried with the rest of his body. Josh finds a metal box that has money in it. There is a robber who tries to steal the money. You should read this book to find out if the robber gets arrested or gets the money. I like this book because it is a mystery story. if you read this story you won't want to stop reading it.

I love this book called Ghost's Grave. The author of this book is Peg Kehret. Peg Kehret also wrote Stranger Next Door and Escaping the Giant Wave. This book is mystery. The theme of this book is never say your aunt is boring if you still haven't been to her house.
I really like this book called Ghost's Grave because the author does a great job of making the book scary but mysterious. The main characters are Aunt Ethel and Josh. My favorite character was Aunt Ethel because there are some parts in the book that just cracks me up! The background information is this boy named Josh is forced to go to Aunt Ethel's house. But Josh doesn't want to go to his Aunt Ethel's house for the summer because he thinks it will be boring. I think the most exciting scene from the beginning of the book is when Aunt Ethel shot the bat in her kitchen with her gun. You have to read this amazing book to find out what happens at the end. I recommend this awesome book to people who like mysteries and would like to read a great book about ghosts. I like this book because it is my favorite book I read in 5th grade. I also like this book because the author makes it so exciting that you want to keep reading and flipping the page.

The author of my favorite book is Peg Kehret. The Ghost's Grave is a fictional story about a boy learning how to survive on his own in a new environment. Peg Kehret has written many books, here are a few of their names: Abduction!, Cages, Danger at the Fair, Don't Tell Anyone, and Spy Cat.
It is apparent by looking at these titles that she enjoys writing suspenseful stories. The main characters in The Ghost's Grave are: Josh, Aunt Ethel, Mr.Turep, Bruce, Mrs. Stray, Mrs. Morris, Willie, a stray cat, mom, Steven The back round info about josh is his mom is divorced and now she is with Steven. And josh came from Minneapolis to visit the aunt named Aunt Ethel. There is a ghost named Willie he died in an explosion in a mined .The people of carbon city were collecting money to make something you should read the book to see how it ends. I recommend this book to people how like mystery books. I like the book because I like mystery books and it is interesting.

The title of my book is called The ghost's grave. My book was written by Peg Kehret and she also wrote the book The Stranger Next Door also my favorite, Spy Cat, Cages, and Terror at the Zoo . The genre is fiction because the main character meets a ghost named Willie whose leg was blown off, how?; you're going to have to read to find out. The theme would best be described as someone learning to accept life no matter what happens.
The author's writing style is writing suspenseful/mystery books, the main characters are Josh, aunt Ethel, mom, Steve, Muriel, Mrs. Morris, and Mr. Turlep. The back round information of the book is that Josh has to stay at his aunt's house over the summer because his mom and dad had to go to Vermont for their work and Josh had to quit the baseball team because of it. An exciting part and my favorite part was when she shot the bat and blasting holes in the roof. If you like the sound of this book and if you want to know how it ends, then you're going to have to read and find out. I would recommend this book for people whose ages are 9-70 and people who like suspenseful/mystery books. The book was really good, for me. I like it because it's a mystery and you'll never know what will happen next.

I read this book as a volunteer who listens to kids' reviews in a book contest at an elementary school. This was a great book, the author made it an engaging read from the start. Mystery, suspense, and lots of thought provoking dilemmas for kids to ponder!Great as a read aloud for parent's to share with children, especially for halloween!Really young ones might find it a bit scary, but for upper elementary it should be fine. I've read other books from this author and she's wonderful, never a dissappointing read!

My friend loves gost stories and read it because of the cover. She recommended it to me and i loved it!
Twelve-year-old Josh is forced to live for the summer with an eccentric old aunt who technically is not even a blood relative. He first looks at his situation as hopeless but he soon befriends a ghost and a stray cat. Things get strange when the ghost asks Josh to rob a grave so that all of his body might be reunited. Yes, it's an improbable plot, but this is a good story and moves at a fast pace. While digging up the leg bones of the ghost, Josh stumbles across stolen money buried in the same grave (of all the peculiar coincidences in this book, this is the strangest). But it makes for a good story and helps solve a local mystery. All's well that ends well, and Josh is a hero as the local police never question him about why he was digging in that particular plot. The grave robber becomes the hero and in the end he even gets to join a local baseball team, something he had to give up before first coming to Carbon City.

Peg Kehrets mystery machine,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Ghost's Grave (Hardcover)
The Ghosts Grave by Peg Kehret is a book about a kid named Josh who makes freinds with a ghost named willie. Josh met the ghost in the forest by his aunt Ethel's house. He was at his aunts house that entire summer because his mom and his stepdad went to India for their jobs. Willie makes a deal with Josh that if Josh reburies his leg by the creek where the rest of his body lies that he would see if a peacock who aunt Ethel says is her sister Florence is really Florence.
What Josh thought was going to be a boring summer turned out to be one of the most exiting summers of his life!!! I think the books message was to never be afraid of somone because they're different. I liked the book because I felt like I was in the book and because of its exiting verbs.

I started reading this book after glancing at the cover. It is a well written book and difficult to put down.
Teenage boys should enjoy this book. It has all the elements that should keep their interest, and as said, the whole book can be read in one or two sittings. |
