Editorial Reviews

Product Description
What better place for a Texas ghost hunter to find ghosts than in a cemetery? But how do you know when you’ve seen a ghost? Perhaps you only feel its eerie presence in the form of a brief but definite chill, like walking into a cold spot on a warm day.

Legends of abandoned old graveyards and some not so abandoned abound—the crying dog in the cemetery well, the wandering ghost of Long Tom March, who carries a deck of cards and won’t rest until he finds a winning poker hand. Next to a graveyard where an arm is buried, the old piano in the forgotten church plays. These and other old tales along with some more recent real-life experiences will intrigue you, skeptic or not.

Read the tales with an open mind. They are for pleasure, a bit of paranormal, a little seriousness, and hopefully a laugh or two. If you are a nonbeliever in the supernatural, you may change your mind unless your skepticism is etched in stone. Then again the author learned that nothing is etched in stone forever.

This humorous book also includes some unusual coffins, tombstones, and epitaphs as well as some early Texas burial traditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutly fantastic, February 28, 2002
I could not put this book down. Who'd think there were so many fascinating stories about these old graveyards. Instead of going to Disneyland next year, I'd grab a copy of this book and do a road trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghosts in the Graveyard: Texas Cemetery Tales, December 20, 2002
By Peggye Swenson (Fort Worth, TX United States) - See all my reviews
I have the good fortune to be personally acquainted with Ms. Abbott and read bits and pieces of the book prior to publication. She would come back from a cemetery exploration so anxious to get to her computer she wouldn't even say 'hello.' From the orbs she saw to the glowing headstone, she shares her adventures with her audience. She didn't just check out local legends, in most cases she went right to the horse's mouth and tracked the stories on foot. A couple of places left her a bit shaken when dark fell before she'd finished exploring. All part of being a ghost hunter. Great job.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun to read, March 31, 2004

I like to read anything I can about Texas history and this book has a lot of the stories and legends that people don't write about anywhere else. It was a lot of fun to read and it helped me know more about some obscure Texas tales.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad book, but not great either
Much of the writing seems to be taking what could be summed up in three sentences and inflating it into three paragraphs. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor
This book is a waste of money. Although the subtitle is "Texas Cemetery Tales", the book would be better entitled "My Boring Roadtrip". Read more
