Book Description

9 and upCracker Western
Trouble's found Tate Barkley again, but this time it's in the form of a beautiful but cold-hearted young woman with two murderous henchmen, who rob Tate and leave him for dead. When he's able to set out in pursuit, Tate follows a trail that draws him ever deeper into that vast forbidding swampland near the headwaters of the Withlacoochee River. Is there any truth to the local legends of "haints" and witches who roam the swamp's vast darkness?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great view of Florida in the mid 1800's, May 26, 2000

This review is from: Ghosts of the Green Swamp: A Cracker Western (Paperback)
This is a great leisure or vacation book. Lee Gramling's book Ghosts of the Green Swamp, provides readers a view at the Florida of the mid 1800's. Tate Barkley is the main character of the "Cracker Western", and the book does a great job of showing the life on the frontier of Florida and provides a few plot twists and enough action for most action-adventure readers. It is part of a series of books about life in frontier Florida that seem to be authentic and accurate.
