4.0 out of 5 stars Legends & Lore
This book was fun and when followed by the actual Key West ghost tour that departs from the Concha Hotel, you will want to go back and read it again. It does not try to convice you or spook you, it just states as many facts as they were able to verify. The rest is left to you to believe or disbelieve. Fun reading, with short chapters. Good bedtime stories to read...

2.0 out of 5 stars More bore than boo.
I was looking forward to reading this book and when I finally did it was a let down. It's not scary. It seems to be written to scare children rather than to inspire chills or midnight scrambling to turn on all the light in the house.
Read his book Quit Your Job and move to Key West. Now that's a great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Ghost Book!, February 15, 2003

This is a great ghost story book of Key West. Pictures are excellent and add an authentic creepy reality to the stories. I also highly recommend the tour leaving from La Concha, it is awesome! I read the book after the tour and was surprised to find different stories in it that we had not heard on the tour. As a fan of ghost books and city tours, I can say that both were better than that of St. Augustine or New Orleans. 3 cheers for Key Weird!

I liked this book. When i first read it it didn't do much for me. I read it a second time after the Key West Ghost Tour and I have to admit I liked it alot more. Most of the stories are great and somewhat creepy. I would tell anyone interested in some good ghost stories to get this book now. larrivlle was me before. Great book. Buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great companion to the ghost tour!, June 19, 2003
This review is from: Ghosts of Key West (Paperback)
Although the ghost stories in this book won't keep you up nights, it's still a nice introduction to the ghost stories of Key West.

I suggest reading the book before a trip to Key West. Stay at one of the "haunted" b&b's and maybe grab a meal at the Hard Rock. Follow up the trip with the walking ghost tour. A great way to spice up a trip to the Keys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book about haunted Key West, January 4, 2012
This review is from: Ghosts of Key West (Paperback)
Lots of great stories about paranormal happenings on Cayo Hueso. Interesting stories, creepy and spooky, because they are "true" (true, meaning they are based on real people, places and...eeek...creepy dolls...in Key West). Fun to read while sitting on a Key West beach or lanai at night. The story of Robert alone is enough to keep you up for a few nights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghosts of Key West, October 1, 2011

I love visiting Key West and enjoy reading about the history of Key West, most especially, it's haunted history. I like the light overviews in this book of some of the ghosts of Key West but some of the stories gave me a feeling that the intention of the story was to get the reader to go visit the location, kind of like a commercial.
I would really only recommend this to someone who was planning to go on the local ghost tour, which the author of the book is the president of and only so that they could look into any of the stories they find interesting ahead of time. I think that is important because the story that I find most interesting is the Von Cosel /Eleyna Hoyos story. I have read some great books about them but the version of the story in this book is horribly inaccurate. It does absolutely no justice to their macabre "love" story so I am inclined to believe that some of the other stories are also inaccurate.
It is a short book, with short stories so it is a fast read.
