An Enthralling Novel, August 27, 2007
This review is from: The Ghosts of Turtle Nest (Paperback)
The Ghosts of Turtle Nest," an adult fiction novel written by Edith Edwards, is the story of bright, ambitious Connie Edmonds. Thirty years earlier, Connie had failed to help prevent the death of a WAC (Women's Army Corp) during WW11. The girl's father, a prominent Senator, vowed to make the rest of Connie's life miserable.
In spite of this, Connie has built a successful real estate business in Southport, North Carolina. The Senator blocks her at every turn, especially when she tries to develop
Beautiful Turtle Nest, the present day Bald Head Island, into a sanctuary for wildlife, with a few upscale homes.
Throughout the story Edwards takes us on many twists and turns. We learn of a ghost from the Civil War, the story of the death of a female Confederate spy, and Connie's love for a younger man. The book is filled with romance, murder, love, and betrayal.
I would recommend this book for anyone who loves a good read! Edwards has done an outstanding job. It is available from iUniverse.com or Amazon.com.

A very satisfying debut novel!, March 18, 2007
This review is from: The Ghosts of Turtle Nest (Paperback)
A U.S. Senator is dedicated to ensuring a life of failure for a woman he holds accountable for the suicide of his daughter. The woman succeeds in every way, despite ongoing and unpleasant encounters with the Senator and feelings of guilt for not having done more to prevent a suicide. The story unfolds at a fast pace, full of empathetic and well-developed characters . . . and the end leaves readers well satisfied.
Edith's book is a delight. Her prose, singularly pointed and poetic, fully captures the essence a place and time. While written about events that unfold along the eastern coast of the Carolinas, this is a novel all readers will understand. It is a story of strength and commitment, of a woman who stands against adversity and finds love, of protecting the most important elements of a life and of finding peace.
An unforgettable first book. We hope for many more!
