Immortal is dead, long live Horgh!,
By Joe Parks (Redding,CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ghouls of Grandeur (Audio CD)
I have anticipated this cd since I first read about it in Pit magazine last fall. I was dismayed to learn of the demise of thr mighty Immortal but looked forward to Grimfist eagerly, and have listened to little else since recieving it. Brutal simply doesn't cover this death metal masterpiece. Primal Agression, From Hell and Back, and the title track all stand out on an album with no weak tracks. If you like Carnal Forge, The Crown, Marduk and of Course Immortal why don't you own this?Of course Horgh is godlike behind the kit but the guitars will rip your face off and the vocals are demonic. THIS ALBUM IS KILLER!!!

BRUTAL!!!!!,
By Chris F'N Johnson (Your Home) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ghouls of Grandeur (Audio CD)
That one word up top can describe this album and I'll say it again: BRUTAL! Norway's Grimfist is one of the heaviest bands out there and you should support them by buying this record. You like thrash? You got it! You like death? You got it! You like a little black metal too? You got it! Every type of metal you can think of is on this record. Musically, this band sounds like a cross between Lamb of God during their Burn the Priest days meets Immortal (btw, their drummer plays on here) with almost Judas Priest-like solos for good measure. This ain't no Korn or Disturbed record folks. This is extreme music for extreme people. The vocalist is pretty impressive. He can from ear-piercing highs to low growls and even lets out some clean power metal vocals ("A World of Wrath"). The guitars are lighting fast and Horgh (Immortal) puts on a drum clinic with his fast footing and devestating blast beats. Every song on here is good, but my favorite is probably "Mosh-Pit Underground" If your fan of real metal, you should pick up this album. If your favorite band is Disturbed, stay away from this release. You might get hurt!

You just blew my mind,
By ohnjayjdp "ohnjayjdp" (Columbus, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ghouls of Grandeur (Audio CD)
This CD is amazing, pure and simple. I bought it on a whim after I heard the song "Outlined In Black", but let me tell you -- this thing is unbelievable from start to finish. Brutally heavy and thrashy, Ghouls of Grandeur is one of the best metal albums that was released in 2003. Also, if you like this check out "First Round Knockout" by Deride -- its very similar to this.PS Metal fans -- have a sense of humor and give Fred Dursts Numba One Fann a break. Its a joke.
