I LOVE IT and I love Giada, so having one of her staple products that she uses on the show is rewarding.

I've been using this knife for several years and because of the curve, it makes prep work much easier when it comes to cutting and mincing food such as vegetables, garlic, herbs etc. Unlike another reviewer, I do not find the handles slippery when my hands are wet. It is a very durable knife and with the proper care and periodic sharpening, it will last one several years.
Note: Only place to get them is Target and I believe Giada's line has been discontinued there. If you can still find the knife there, you will get it for less than $10.00

Knife is easy to handle and cuts easily. I did not like the sticker attached to the blade. It was difficult to remove and in the process of removing it, I cut myself 2 times!

I got this for my wife. She had it on her Christmas list. She likes it. It's a good knife, but it was expensive. I cook and use knives quite a bit, but it still behooves me how much some knives cost. I've used very good knives and not good ones, so I know the difference and it does not justify the costs. Doesn't matter how good the knife is. This is a good knife, but is too expensive in my opinion.

Are you a purist when it comes to kitchen knives? This mezzaluna surely does what it is suppose to do and has the star quality vis a vis Giada but it is not manufactured by what I consider a "real" knife manufacturing company, but marketed by a kitchen goods company. It is now discontinued--so much for that bit of info. Want this kind of knife in a true professional setting and for less money ? Wusthof's 7 in chai dao has all the "curve" you need for cutting and much more, is professionally produced by an acknowledged prestigious kitchen cutlery company and--bottom line--is cheaper. I purchased one for $58 and currently you can easily see $79 values--heck buy two and you still have money left over instead of purchasing the Giada mezzaluna.

Overall, I liked the shape, balance, and weight of this knife. And, I loved the stainless steel finish and that the knife was one solid piece of smooth metal. However, I was never able to get it as sharp as some of my other knives. I think this is a stainless steel compromise.

Until recently I would have rated this knife at 4.5, but when I was breaking open a coconut, it fractured into two pieces. Perhaps I was abusing the knife a bit, but I still feel like it should not have broken.

The knife is attractive and is easy to use. It seems to be well balanced.

The handle can become slippery when prepping foods, which can be potentially dangerous. The blade tends to become dull and needs periodic sharpening even though used mainly for chopping vegetables.

I bought this knife at Target in July of 2013... It is a good knife but it doesn't stay as sharp as I would like... I am a professional cook and I got it because it was suppose to be a quality knife for $20... The price in which they are charging is ABSURD, for the exact same knife I have in my kit. I do use it on a weekly basis but, I hafta sharpen it at least every 2 weeks... that is just insane... The edge should hold for at least 4-5 weeks with a good sharpening...
