4.0 out of 5 stars The Don STILL represents!!!
I feel sorry for hip hop. In today's world of hip hop music, it's just dying a slow, painful death and it doesn't look to be bright for the future. Kool G.Rap decided to release this long awaited album, and when I purchased it, I wasn't disappointed. He might not be in his prime, but he can still deliver the goods(ask Nelly or Chingy or any of these other wack rappers do...

I feel sorry for hip hop. In today's world of hip hop music, it's just dying a slow, painful death and it doesn't look to be bright for the future. Kool G.Rap decided to release this long awaited album, and when I purchased it, I wasn't disappointed. He might not be in his prime, but he can still deliver the goods(ask Nelly or Chingy or any of these other wack rappers do they want to see G.Rap LYRICALLY). The Giaciana Story is an excellent, even though this is another album in G.Rap's catalog that went unnoticed. Here's the review:

Album Highlights: Not too much filler, but the standout tracks are Thug For Life, Where You At(w/Prodigy), Holla Back, It's Nothin, Thug Chronicles, Blaze Wit Y'all, The Streets, Good Die Young, Gangsta Gangsta, Fight Club, and My Life.

Production: Thumbs up.

Lyrics and Subject Matter: Thumbs up. Nothing new here from G.Rap, but the material sounds so fresh.

Originality: Thumbs SLIGHTLY in the middle for this one.

The Last Word: While this album is not going to turn many heads, this is still TRUE Kool G.Rap. He might not be the same G.Rap from the 90s, but he can still get the job done on the mic, whether his material goes unnoticed or not. Overall, this album is an excellent one from him, and I hope he releases another. Recommended.

Goddamn.
I just got this CD yesterday and listened to it nonstop. How could you not love this CD? Kool G really puts it down, he is one of the top lyricists in the Game and also put some great beats on this CD. I have only been listenin to this for a lil while but felt I had to write a review because it was soo good.

I recomend you also Check out BIG L and Saigon-Warning Shots

Good lookin on the album Kool G

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't think G Rap is capable of a bad record, December 2, 2002

As long as Kool G Rap can keep spitting out his grimey, storytelling rhymes, any CD he puts out gets 5 stars from me. The production on this CD is pretty good, but as with any album by this hip hop pioneer, the lyrics make the record a classic. If you like G Rap, this is a great album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kool G Rap- The Giancana Story, November 26, 2002
This review is from: Giancana Story (Audio CD)
Kool G Raps aka Nathaniel Wilson latest album "The Giancana Story" with his new label Koch is most likely to be slept on, but has some gems. Main production comes from Bink Dog, Rockwilder, Buckwild and Young Lord. Some of the well known guest appearances come from Prodigy and Havoc of Mobb Deep, CNN and AZ. "Where you at" feat. Prodigy starts the album off, track has an addictive beat, and is one of the nicest collabs ive heard in awile. There are some less than memorable tracks that follow. But things pick up with banging tracks like "Black Widow" and "Fight Club". My favourite track is the the lead single called "My Life", which has been circulating for over a year now, still love it though. Next "Good Die Young" and "The Streets" follow and they are raw, grimey and hardcore tracks. Album ends with "My Life (Remix) feat. CNN and is a decent closer. One problem with this album is it got pushed back and back and back, so by time it did come out alot of people had heard it. The other is that 13 tracks and 1 remix, leaves you looking for more, if it was 20 you have larger assortment of tracks to like. Kool G Rap is a 15 year veteran of hiphop, and the fact that he is still dropping albums is a major accomplishment. I recommend saving your money and buying some of his past work if your new to G Rap, and if you have followed him since back in the day listen to the album before you cop it. Still got lotta love for G-Rap though, think now that hes with his new label there will be no two year delays and his next release will be a much more complete album. 3 1/2

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST THAT EVER TOUCHED THE MIC,DEAD OR ALIVE,PERIOD., April 3, 2010
By
This review is from: Giancana Story (Audio CD)
Ok,first of all,yes you read the title to my review correctly,no need to check it again.I went as bold as to say that my man is "THE BEST THAT EVER DID IT,DEAD OR ALIVE,PERIOD",and if you consider yourself a true hip-hop enthuisiast, like myself, and you don't know who Kool G Rap is, or don't own any of his cd's,get off of the computer right now,and go to your local record store,or purchase his album(s) online right now.The kid is that serious.Argueably, the first emcee to start New-York gansta rap, which has become a staple in hip-hop music today, for such artists such as :Mobb Deep,Cormega,Screwball, and Capone N Noreaga, not to mention, countless others. He is the GODFATHER OF GANGSTA RAP,and deserves the title of "THE BEST THAT EVER DID IT,DEAD OR ALIVE,PERIOD".Such artists like, Nas, Necro,Atmosphere, and The Alchemist(DJ/producer for Mobb Deep, along with member Havoc),have accreddited Kool G Rap for their inspiration. The only other artist that might come close would be either ,Rakim, the god,or the legendary,Big Pun(RIP),and I'm not just saying that since I myself are latin,I don't care if he was purple, his word-play and delivery is truly impeccable and unmatchable, like Kool G Rap's is.It's a shame that you got kids running around 16 years old,who consider themselves real hip-hop heads, and when you say Kool G Rap is the best, they look at you with a blank stare, like Kool G who?But that's not there fault I guess, let's face it ,MTV is now the source of what "hip hop" has become, unfortunetly, but that's another story. As always, and especially with this one,COP IT NOW!IT'S HEAT!

4.0 out of 5 stars another 4.5 star album From G RAP, July 8, 2005
By
This review is from: Giancana Story (Audio CD)
Finally being released after being bootlegged and pushed back for 2 years, Giancana Story delivers the goods. A few tracks were taken off but it still is a very solid album. After 4 years since his last release it was a nice welcome back from one of hip-hops best the past 15 years. My 2nd favorite of his albums, just under "Roots of Evil", and much better then "456" or "Click of Respect" (Both 3 star albums). Packed with 14 songs, none on here I skip over, 2 are ok, 1 is almost a classic G Rap song, and the other 11 are good or great songs. Production on this one is also very good. Ghetto Pros do 4 songs, Buckwild & YopungLord each do 2, and Bink One, Dr. Butcher, Amar, Rockwilder, Jaz O, Frank Nitti all do 1. Great G rap release with some real lyrics and flow that he's been known for since the late 80's. A must have album for true hip-hop heads.

Repeatedly described as the most prolific lyricist of all time. This guy never fails his title. Any tru lover of Hip Hop or Rap must own this album for it is an addition to the Rap Hall of Fame. G Rap is like this uncommercialized, down low type of guy. Much respect to him and his crew. Buy this album. One luv.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where's "Keep Going"??!!??, January 22, 2003
By
This review is from: Giancana Story (Audio CD)
For those that don't know, this album was made over two years ago on Rawkus Records, and bootleg copies have been spreading in that time period. That version was alright: not the best, but a lot better than his last two albums. But since G Rap moved to KOCH Records, this album has finally been released, and the album is only fair because they scrapped the best songs like "First N (DJ Premier Remix)" and especially "Keep Going", featuring Snoop Dogg and Devin the Dude, and produced by Hi-Tek. Those songs would make the album worth purchasing, but since they're not on there, just borrow this album from a friend. Also, contrary to what another reviewer said, Kool G Rap is capable of releasing a bad record; remember 4, 5, 6?

This is a hot album. G Rap keeps it coming with his thug image. The lyrics and beats are tight. The production is on point. Kool G Rap is a hip hop veteran, but he's still go it. Check this one out.
