Review

God is using Gianna Jessen to remind the world that each human being is precious to Him. It is beautiful to see the strength of the love of Jesus which He has poured into her heart. My prayer for Gianna, and for all who listen to her, is that this message of God’s love will put an end to abortion. Let us fight abortion with the power of love. (Mother Teresa) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

As an unborn baby . . . she survived abortion.
As a young girl . . . she battled physical and emotional scars.
As a young woman . . . she boldly speaks truth about abortion.
This is her story.
Gianna is the incredible true story of one girl’s remarkable and courageous journey from abortion survivor to steadfast defender of life. This book isn’t about issues—it’s about a young woman’s determination to make the most of her God-given opportunities.
Gianna Jessen has been a guest on numerous radio and television programs. She travels frequently, sharing her testimony through word and song. Speaking for those who can’t, she brings encouragement and hope to youth and adult audiences.
Through this inspirational biography, you’ll see that all life is a precious gift that should be cherished and protected. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

There are more problems than what I've listed, but it would take too long to list everything.

Gianna's story is amazing. It is heart-breaking, it is uplifting, it is inspirational. That is why it is so unfortunate that this book was so poorly written. There is far too much unnecessary repetition, way too many cliche phrases that simply fill space, and the book will focus on a single event here or there for many pages and then skip over years with hardly a mention of what happened. There are more problems than what I've listed, but it would take too long to list everything. I know that as a biography there will be parts of it that slacken in pace, etc. I have read many biographies and autobiographies and have not faulted the authors for this unavoidable fact. Overall I think this book tells an amazing story about an amazing woman, but was unfortunately hi-jacked by a mediocre writer (Renshaw).

Couldn't put the book down, was truly engrossed in reading about this miracle child. she inspires us with her will to live & spread the Word that all of us deserve the Right to Life. Have shared it with friends & encouraged others to read & spread the testimony of Gianna. Her willingness to understand & forgive is a blessing. Her story of how she came to survive is chilling; well worth reading!

Yes, I am pro-choice, but I'm not going to down-vote (ie give it one star) this book because of my differing political beliefs. I am simply skeptical of the claims that her birth mother had an elective abortion at 7 and a half months (illegal under roe v wade). Either the doctor was practicing illegally (and if so why haven't they used Gianna's case against him) or someone's lying or not telling the full story. The book said that Gianna's birth mother got off the bus holding a robe in her hand which I find hard to believe as third trimester abortions take three days. A third trimester abortion is not a 5 minute procedure. On one hand the book also made it sound like Gianna's birth mother thought she was in her first trimester (was she one of those rare women who didn't show until late in their pregnancy)? Yes, I do believe the adoptive mother would lie about Gianna being aborted as she seems to be on the extreme end of the pro-life side. She carries around fetuses in jars from miscarriages (where did she get that and where does she keep it) and even allowed Gianna to participate in extreme pro-life activism in spite of Gianna's cerebral palsy which meant being trampled on and endangering her physical well-being. I was disgusted with mention of their pro-life "activism" which is merely juvenile delinquency (why haven't these parents lost custody and had their kids put in foster care). On page 82 a twelve year old Laurel Foreman described, "enthusiastically how they had spent the day scaling fences, blocking driveways, and resisting the physical and psychological "attacks" (quotation marks not used in book around attacks) of "pro-aborts,"" and "said the persecution they had experienced made them feel closer to Christ.Read more ›

Gianna is a survivor of abortion. Her story is inspirational and uplifting. God bless her and the wonderful adoptive family of which she is such a vital part.
