This review is from: Giannini: Concerto Grosso; Prelude and Fugue; Flagello: Serenata; Andante Languido: Morton Gould: Harvest (Audio CD)
An unusual CD in that pretty much every track is riveting, from the intensely beautiful Andante Languido of Flagello to the fascinating Harvest of Morton Gould, with its hommage to Copland and the writing of Applachian Spring. The Giannini Concerto Grosso is an exciting, vivid work, and deserves greater exposure, as do all the works on this CD. If you respond to Barber's Adagio, this music should appeal to you, albeit in a slightly more dissonant, intense rubric. Highly recommnended!
