I'm not quite sure how David & the Giants first came to my attention. I think they may have still been playing a few of their songs on the radio when I started listening to it during the early 90's. Either way, I had considered getting this best of for a while and finally broke down and bought it. I've been enjoying it.The one song I knew I knew was "Here's My Heart." It's just as good as I remembered. While the song ultimately is about surrender, I like the fact that it emphasizes that God is truly worthy of our surrender. I also knew I liked "Why" by Keith Thibodeaux. This song ponders the changes in his life after becoming a Christian and asks why he didn't come to God sooner. It's a topic that people don't sing about very often, and I like hearing it. There are a couple songs about living the Christian life ("Get Together" and "Show Them the Light"). "Heavenly Love" and "Love has a Place" are about God's love. Our commitment to love Him back is the subject of "I'll be Loving You" and "Always on My Mind." "I was the Nails" puts the singer in the place of various things around Jesus on Good Friday. While the verses wish he could have been something that could have offered comfort, the chorus admits that, thanks to sin, he is really the nails that caused the pain. While the idea is often expressed in song, it's never quite this clear. And the CD rounds out with "Noah," a fun song written from the perspective of those laughing as Noah built the ark. David & the Giants was most popular during the 80's, and this CD shows it. The music feels like typical soft rock of the era from the heavy keyboard to the lead singer's voice. But if you enjoy that, you should enjoy the CD. This isn't something I listen to regularly, but I certainly enjoy it when I do.

Great Sound,
This review is from: Giant Hits (MP3 Download)
David and the Giants have a great sound. Always and Here's My Heart remind me of their 1960s hits Super Love and Ten Miles High. They've had a long musical life. I think you'll enjoy their songs.

A classic that would have had giant airplay in its day had it had been marketed as such. This collection epitomizes everything the genre should aspire to: superior sound, tight lyrics, and sincerity & passion for the subject matter. Thanks to David Huff & the Giants for keeping it real AND excellent. Those who agree with the subject will find it worshipful. Those who don't will appreciate the sound. No need to hesitate on this purchase.

This has nothing that I want. I am searching for "Super Love" by David and the Giants.
