5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent Product
I have never 'met' a Bible from Foundations Publications that I haven't immediately liked. Whether in leather-like, bonded leather, or Genuine leather, these Bibles are all smyth-sewn and quality products. This is no exception. 3.0 out of 5 stars NASB Giant Print Bible
I absolutely love the large print and leather. I also like NAS version, but in the front of the Bible at Genesis it is pulling away from the rest of the bible slightly. I had already thrown the box and receipt away so it wasn't worth dealing with

I have never 'met' a Bible from Foundations Publications that I haven't immediately liked. Whether in leather-like, bonded leather, or Genuine leather, these Bibles are all smyth-sewn and quality products. This is no exception. This is a black, genuine leather Bible with 14pt., giant print. It is a red-letter edition, unfortunately, but the red is of a dark quality, thus non-glaring. This is a very comftorable type. Although I do not 'need' giant print, I like it, so this has become my main Bible. It has a good dictionary/Concordance in the back. It is priced reasonably, and has been a real blessing to have and to hold. Foundations Publications can basically outdo any American Bible publisher today. That, plus an excellent translation, makes Foundations Pub #1 in my book!(UPDATE, 2-26-08) This Bible appears to have been somewhat redesigned. The Genuine Leathers are still Black and Burgundy, but of a different texture. The Bibles appear shorter, but thicker. They are now made in China, but are sewn. The ribbon markers are short and no longer silk.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bible!, May 23, 2006
This review is from: Giant Print Reference Bible-NASB (Black Genuine Leather) (Leather Bound)
Giant Print is definitely true with this excellent edition of the reliable NASB. Foundation Publications produces high quality bibles, and this is one of their best. It is very easy on the eyes for reading. The only disadvantage to me is the size and weight of the Bible. It is difficult to hold up in your hand for very long. But that is to be expected for the print size and references. This edition is great for ease of reading and studying at home. You might want a smaller edition to take to church and travelling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Giant Print Reference Bible-NASB, January 15, 2007

This Bible format is exactly what I've been looking for and haven't been able to find. My husband is a gospel preacher and has an old Bible similar to this that he has taped and re-tpaed the pages. We haven't (up to this point) been able to find a similar one, so I was thrilled when I finally found this on Amazon.com. It was delivered quickly (in time for Christmas this year) and was packed well. The only thing I was somewhat disappointed with is the quality of the stitching in the few front pages. The stitching is quite loose from the top down about 2-3 inches and with how much my husband uses his Bible I'm afraid those first few pages will be coming out very soon. I sent the first one back because of that issue and they were quick to replace it. However, the 2nd one is worse, but we have decided to try it anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully GIANT Print, December 27, 2007

VERY LARGE PRINT - This NASB Giant Print Reference Bible is one of the few Bibles that truly has a very large typeface. Those with some sight impairment will be able to read this Bible's 14-pt type easily. *Large*-print Bibles use a smaller type, 9- to 12-pt type, depending on the publisher. And most of the other so-called *Giant*-print Bibles use a 10- or 12-pt type, which is still too small for someone who's vision-impaired. If you prefer an even larger type, you can get a 16-pt type KJV, NKJV, or NIV Giant Print Bible - like the KJV Super Giant Print Reference Bible or Nelson Classic Giant Print Center-column Reference Bible.

FAIRLY LITERAL TRANSLATION - A modern-day fairly literal translation, the NASB is reasonably easy to understand (compared to the KJV) and makes an *excellent* study Bible.

THE COVER - Since the cover of this Bible is bonded leather, it requires gentle handling, as it is not as durable as regular leather. However, if treated with respect, this Bible should last for many years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great pick, April 13, 2008
This is a good quality product. The letters are large and easy to read. It has a good concordance and the maps are excellent. This Bible also includes an overview of each book, located between the concordance and the maps. Footnotes are minimal. I am well pleased with my purchase and enjoy using this Bible.

2.0 out of 5 stars If your looking for a 5 star consider the calfskin, February 7, 2011
WHY THIS IS A 5 STAR BIBLE:

The text is large and easy to read and yet not so large as to feel cumbersome while reading. The Bible is 6.5 inches by 9 inches and 2 lb, 12 oz so is some weight and size to the Bible but not so heavy that it feels cumbersome to carry to church, sit in your lap, or haul around. If you are a student, this would not be the best Bible to carry to class with other books.

It has two columns and references between each column. This version provides alternative translations on key issues in the reference column allowing the reader to see where a translator has broken from the precise literal rendering to the interpreted meaning. NASB does a good job of interpreting the text on a whole and my previous comment should not be understood as a slander against the translator. Every version makes interpretive decisions in their translation and the NASB excels at providing a literal translation.

Overall the NASB is a great literal translation. It is written at an eleventh grade reading level. If your looking for literal and an easier read, I recommend the ESV written at an eighth grade level.

WHY THIS BIBLE IS A 2 STAR:

This product is leather bound. Leather used to be the best choice, but not anymore. The reason? Calfskin. If you are going to get this Bible buy a calfskin. This is a lot of money to spend on an everyday Bible that will wear out after a year to year and half. If you are looking for a Bible to use everyday, get a calfskin because it will endure. Calfskin is designed to protect the spine so that every time you use it you are not placing tension on the spine. Bibles all seem to wear out in the same place along the spine. We've all seen the Bible that you can pull up the pages at the leather cover dangles 4 inches off the spine. Calfskin Bibles solve this issue and will last a long time. You are probably more likely to damage your Bible by accident than by using it. Spend the extra 50-75$ and buy the Calfskin. In the long run, the Bible will wear down nicely and you will probably be able to pass it off to your children.

Genuine leather. Smythe sewn. Giant print. NASB. All for less than $40? You can't find things like this in this day and age, but here you have it!

The NASB is considered the most literal translation, and it is my favorite to study, teach and preach from. And this Bible is just perfect in every way. The only change I'd make is add 1 or 2 more ribbon markers (it only has 1), but other than that, spectacular.
