Giants: Citizen Kabuto is an intense action-shooter game that also builds in resource and base-building elements used in strategy games. Smarties and Vimps perform these functions by serving as support species. Your job is to collect them to your gain. However, each group uses them differently; for instance, Meccs build their bases with Smarties, while Kabuto eats them for energy.
The main thrust of Giants, however, is combat, and each class has an array of interesting weapons. The Meccs employ a destructive array of high-tech armaments. The Sea Reapers call upon magical powers and their priestess, Delphi, who wields a lethal sword and a quiver of bows, while also casting deadly spells. And the giant, Kabuto, uses his massive body weight, wrestling moves, and a handy adrenaline boost.
More than 45 challenging and varied missions are available in the PlayStation2 release. Players adventure through 16 island maps in a combat quest for dominance of this stunning planetoid.

A unique action/strategy game for the PS2.,
By Richard-Hobbes (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Giants: Citizen Kabuto (Video Game)
Giants Citizen Kabuto is a port of the award winning PC game. While the graphics suffered (considerably) during the porting, thankfully the gameplay did not. What makes Giants so enjoyable is that its humor is very British and extremely funny. It is almost impossible not to laugh while playing. Additionally, although a third-person shooter, Giants incorporates intriguing characters and many varied styles of gameplay that require a great deal of strategizing and puzzle solving. Players must use the enormous landscapes, creature behaviors, and resources to solve each task given. While the incredible colors and textures in the PC version have been scaled back, Giants on the PS2 offers several features unique to itself. Firstly (and thankfully), the game now includes an in-game save feature. You can save anywhere at any time. Oddly this was omitted from the PC version and causes much frustration to PC players. Secondly, the PS2 version contains worlds that are much more alive. Huge Pterodactyls fly overhead, water flows in waves, and doves and other small animals inhabit the Islands. None of this is in the PC version. Thirdly, the frame rate is pretty solid. In the PC version, unless you have a very powerful computer, the frame rate varies quite a bit. Finally, commands are superbly mapped to the PS2 controller making the game easy to play. In the end, I actually enjoy playing Giants on the PS2 more than on the PC. Although not the best looking game on the PS2, I highly recommend Giants Citizen Kabuto. It is one of my favorite games on the system because it is incredibly funny and very rewarding to play.

I rented this game and wasn't sure about it at first, but let me tell you this game is a great game. I played it almost non stop scince i rented it. I think this is a game that you might consider renting not buying because it is about medium in length so you can easily beat it in like 3 days without playing all day.

This is one of the best PS2 games I have ever played! The graphics, sound, and gameplay are all great! 'Giants: Citizen Kabuto' is a very addictive game which I highly recommend you buy. Never have I played a game that is so hilarious, fun, and action-packed. 'Giants' is a must-have game for the PS2!
