Book Description

The Nephilim had a plan. They would storm Eden, defeat the guardian Cherub with his flaming sword and eat from the Tree of Life. Then they would rule the Earth as immortal gods.

First, they needed armor to resist the flaming sword. Second, they needed a weapon to kill an angel. And third, they had to forge a champion capable of this feat. Their quest could unleash terrible forces upon the Elder Earth, but they were the sons of fallen angels and they would trample anyone who dared to stand in their way.

GIANTS is the start of Lost Civilizations. It tells of the war between Nephilim and men in the days before the oceans overran the Pre-Cataclysmic World. GIANTS is a fantasy novel by bestselling author Vaughn Heppner.

This is the third book by this author I have purchased. Do not judge the quality by the bad covers. This author is very good. I am surprised that the brick and mortar publishers let this author go. Assuming the quality continues to hold, I expect to read all of his books. This is more of a fantasy book rather than hard SF which I prefer, but the author talent makes it well worth reading.

I am still a little surprised at the high quality for an e-book only and am waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Awesome story about the humans and the Nephilim before the great Flood. I hope the author continues writing this saga as well as the Lod saga. Highly recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting concept January 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
OK...first the good. This isn't a bad story, and the concept behind this book is very intriguing. I think that the author is creative and very imaginative, and my wife and I considered this a pretty fun read.
Now, the negative. I'm not a snob when it comes to writing, and I'm under no illusion that I could do any better, but sometimes this book was just hard to read. The writing just didn't flow, the word choices were occasionally very odd, and the character development wasn't what I hoped.

Overall, this is a great concept that feels anticlimactic in the execution. When we finished this book, we debated whether we should buy the second book and ultimately decided that we really didn't feel like reading anymore, at least for now. Maybe we will come back to it later, but we just aren't compelled by the writing.

I was born in Canada and remember as a small boy crawling in my snow-fort. I closed my eyes, and when I tried to open them, they were frozen shut. I didn't panic, but wiped away the ice crystals, unglued my eyes and kept on building my tunnel. Those were great days! I moved to Central California before seventh grade and couldn't believe I lived in a land where oranges grew on trees and you could pick grapes from the vine.

I used to wonder what I wanted to do with my life, what kind of work specifically. I was miserable not knowing and bordering on desperate. Then one day a friend gave me his typewriter. I began working on a novel. A different person told me it was much easier on a computer, so I bought one and began getting up at 4:30 A.M. each morning before work, writing for three hours. My eyes were unglued once again as the pang of misery left my gut. I knew exactly what I wanted to do: write. So now that's what I do, I write, and write, and write, and I love it.
