I've written many Drums,Cymbal and hardware reviews for a Major National Music chain store and I have to say this is one of my favorite product review. Even though it's not a total 5 star I give Gibralter a tip of the hat. I'll do this in PROS & CONS

FIRST THE PROS:1st-Cool looking waveboards that are thick & heavy to feel but, light when playing WOW!
2nd- the Slave pedal was awesome in all aspect.Velcro bottom,Black metal (ionized# and adjustable strap w/the option of connecting another pedal to it#nice#.
3rd-Solid heavy duty beaters that once again heavy to hold but, light on the feet.
4th-Master pedal was the same heavy metal as the slave pedal w/cool looking rod connecting master to slave which is adjustable to about a foot and a half. Also has 6 lug screws to cover both pedals-just like the higher end models.
5th-The Kevlar strap which is the main attraction to this(Velocity series)also stands up to the other big boys!
Now to the Cons:
1st-When I opened the box there was no manual which is important to players especial to people who have never had a DB-Pedal.
Luckly this wasn't my first DB Pedal, so it was just remembering your abc's then you remember how to assemble it.(which wasn't that hard for previous DB owners before#.
2nd-Unlike the Slave pedal the Master pedal has two rods coming from the heal board.#picture a Electric kit pedal). Why couldn't both pedals have the same footboards? I guess they have their reasons!
3rd-The tension Rods/springs are so tight that you have to get a small adjustable wrench to adjust them.Forget trying it with your hands-I tried!***Overall I like the action ,strap and velcro slave pedal. It's a great pedal to have instead of paying the price for the other big name brands.

I have been playing drums for a long time and have used a wide variety of pedals, ranging from the ridiculously cheap to even more ridiculously expensive. For the money, this is a really smooth playing pedal. Set-up is simple, a great pedal for a student wanting to learn double bass. even works well with my ALESIS electronic drums.

Feels light although it looks heavy. Surprisingly it is quite light compared to my old pedal. The kevlar strap looks promising enough to last. Its worth the money if you are looking for a non chain pedal. Very smooth pedal. The kevlar strap is easy to change if it starts to wear.

However, the slave pedal will start to move about considering only a fraction of the footboard is covered with Velcro. Secondly, the angle of the beater cannot be change so easily whereas you have to remove a large portion of the parts in order to adjust the angle.

All in all, the pedal do its job, worth the money if you are on a tight budget in looking for a double pedal.

I gave it 4 stars because the slave pedal does slip away, but it is an easy fix with some thicker Velcro. It goes together just as easy as any other pedal. Playing wise it takes a little more effort to play. After a bit of playing it feels normal. Over all it's a good pedal for the price.

This is my 1st dual pedal, and since I am a beginner I can't knock it too much. My lack of knowledge in the setup may or may not be the reason.. but here are some of my observations:
1. For the life of me, I can't get the right pedal to stop double-tapping the drum head. The left doesn't have this issue. If I tighten the spring tension, the double tap ceases, but I find myself having to push harder with my right leg, thus losing my rhythm. Add to that, I have to tighten the left side to match it, just to keep timing.
2. I would love to move the toe portion of the pedals up a little higher, but the straps have no 2nd hole.
3. The straps are quiet, I really hear them at all.
4. Smooth action for the most part.

For the price, I really can't complain too much, so consider this more of an awareness review.

Originally I purchased this pedal for something quick to use with the intention to replace it later on down the road. But Gibraltar has done it again! What a wonderful pedal with all of the adjustments you need. Right out of the box the tension, for myself, was perfectly set. The pedal is strap driven but I have not noticed any difference between it and its chain driven alternate. I digress, this pedal has fantastic punch and great control, I recommend this pedal to anybody needing a double bass pedal, period. Don't waste your money on a 300 dollar pedal, unless of course you are a crazy professional that needs crazy everything, which I am not.
