5.0 out of 5 stars lames
I originally intended in purchasing a lighter wieght dinnerware set however this set caught my eye. It is of medium wieght. Alot of the pieces I will not use like napkin rings or the cups as they are very small like tea cups. The bowls are modern and have to be at least 24oz. I have used the set everyday for over a month now and they are holding up nicely. No cracks or...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but very nice
I just got two sets of these. They're nice, but a few do have the "black specks" that another reviewer mentioned, like the glaze burned or something. There aren't many with the sets I got, but they are annoying. A couple bowls aren't round, they're slightly off in shape. A couple were marked as though they didn't meet their quality requirements- there was a red c in the...

I am glad I made the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great dishes, October 11, 2009

I purchased these dishes almost two years ago. They have held up beautifully--no cracks, chips, or scrapes. The dishes are of a great quality and I love the simple pattern. In fact, I love the dishes so much I am buying another set. I am hosting Thanksgiving this year and the set only sets 6. While a set for 8 would be ideal, I plan on having these dishes for a while and do not mind having the excess!

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent dinnerware for the price, February 10, 2010

I purchased this set a few weeks ago and have now been using it for a couple of weeks. The shipping box was very well packed. Lots of cushion and no broken dishes. For the money, this is a very deluxe set of dishes. The serving platter and serving bowl are large and could accomodate larger families. The salt and pepper shaker are nice. However, I have not used mine. One of the stoppers won't stay in the shaker. It's apparently too small, and I have found an alternative yet. The napkins rings are also nice, but I haven't had a formal dinner party yet using these dishes.

The only downside to these dishes are that there are a few imperfections. The color and glaze are even. However, in a couple of the dishes, there are some oddly raised black specks. It was obviously just an error in the glazing/firing process. Its not that big of a deal to me, but its good to be aware of when purchasing. The weight of these dishes is fine. Not too heavy, but not too light, either.

All in all, I would say its a great purchase, especially if its a starter set of dishes.

I just got two sets of these. They're nice, but a few do have the "black specks" that another reviewer mentioned, like the glaze burned or something. There aren't many with the sets I got, but they are annoying. A couple bowls aren't round, they're slightly off in shape. A couple were marked as though they didn't meet their quality requirements- there was a red c in the bottom of one bowl and a blue c in the bottom of another - but we got them anyway. One of those was chipped and one was odd shaped. One bowl was broken when it arrived. These problems aren't significant enough for me to return the product, but I wish there were no chips and no specks and that the one bowl wasn't broken. Also, the bowls are large and quite small. The small bowls are more like sauce dishes or something - about the size of two ramekins. The bigger bowls are quite large- larger than my old cereal bowls. These are like old fashioned ice cream bowls, if you can envision that - they're big. I like them, but you should know that.

2.0 out of 5 stars Gibson Wall Street 46 pc Dinnerware Set. faulty & poor wokmanship, December 14, 2009

Gibson Wall Street 46 pc Dinnerware Set.
Delivery was speedy and very fast.
Unfortunately, quite number of pieces had embedded black specks the size of coffee grains. These specs were embedded in the glaze of the ceramics. Impossible to wash them out. Decided to return. It would not be nice to serve someone on the plate that has these specks so visible. I think Gibson has a poor quality control. Moreover. The quality of the inner packing is extremely bad.

Multiple defects on plates, etc. When ordering, I didn't know the dishes were made in China (which should be stated), so I sent them back. Afraid of lead content.
