My son, who is almost 3, loves Thomas. His artwork is still very rudimentary, so he asks me to draw things that he loves, like Thomas. So when I saw this on Amazon, I thought it was perfect for him. This turned out to be one of those golden toys that he actually loved and played with for hours, a real rarity!
You fill up the little pod pen/brush the same way you do with a squirter, and screw on the cap (that has the brush) on the water pod. My son had no problems whatsoever with water flow and the brush stays wet a long time. He made lots of excited exclamations as he was brushing each page, such as: "Mama, there's James!!" Every night for the first week he asked for it and kept doing all the pages. As he kept using it, he got a little more inventive, and soon he was squirting each page instead of coloring it with the brush (we had to put a stop to that as he'd then keep asking us to refill the pod, and of course it got water on the table).
I was very pleased with how much fun he has with this book, revealing different color pictures of Thomas and his friends. I wish it were a little harder for him to remove the brush top so that he didn't take it off and squeeze water all over, but beside that, this was a real hit and continues to keep his interest.

My 2 year old daughter received this in the mail from her Aunt a few days ago and hasn't stopped "painting" with it. She loves it! It's a wonderful idea and a fun twist on the old color with water books from when I was a little girl. We will be traveling this summer and this is a perfect activity for the car. I look forward to ordering more in the series for her and for others as Birthday and Christmas gifts. Bottom line, if you are looking for a fun, fairly mess-free activity for your little one, this is a great idea!

My grandson LOVES Thomas, and it's cool to watch him (2) as he discovers hidden things as the water reveals them. You can also let the kids just dip their fingers in water to "paint" - they dry quickly too.
