4.0 out of 5 stars An amazingly different protagonist., June 18, 2002
This review is from: Gideon's Week (Paperback)
What a great change of pace. It is so refreshing to have a law enforcement protagonist who isn't either a recovering alcoholic, a down-in-the dumps unshaven rumpled mess, or a philandering playboy. As an employee of Scotland Yard, Gideon's slow, easy-going manner of doing things makes this series a bright change in reading. In this book, Scotland Yard and local law enforcement districts must work together to round up nine inmates who have escaped from prison. To add to the stress, a girl who went to school with Gideon's daughter comes to see him to say that her brother is being wrongfully charged in the murder of a local girl, and would he please look into it personally. Despite the mayhem going on in the story, this was one of the most enjoyable, relaxing reads I have had in a long time and look forward to delving further into this series.
