This is exactly what I wanted at a great price! My wife and I have 3G iPhones. At about 13% battery it takes this item (fully charged) about 2 hours (if not used) to charge the phone. But to be clear, you can use the phone while this item is plugged in. (It may slow down the charge time or maybe under heavy use just extend the run time and not actually charge...I haven't tested them that thoroughly. I say "them" because we each have one of these. At work, one of my employees has use it on his iPod and it said it worked good and couldn't believe I got this so cheap. (2 with free shipping for $29.90)

With the 30-day refund, this should be a no brainer!

I had an earlier model which worked just fine. I brought this new version and as soon as I plugged it into my phone, it turned my 3GS into toast.

I bought two of these about a week back. While I can't and don't don't blame the manufacturer for this, the battery design is incompatible with the very-popular Otterbox Defender case. The plug isn't physically long enough to mate up with the Otterbox-recessed socket. I've gone so far as to purchase an extension cord, because I want to use these batteries so badly. However, the manufacturers of _this_ accessory enlarged the plastic part of the plug itself, making it too wide and long for the Otterbox. So, since it's a major pain the butt to remove the phone from an Otterbox case (twenty minutes and you need some form of foot/baby powder handy, or else the screen fogs) I reckon I'll probably never get to use these batteries that I wanted so badly. (As important as they are to me, the Otterbox is more so.) I'm keeping them anyway, in the hope that I can find a different extension socket or... something. (Ideas and recommendations are welcome.)

The root problem here is a lack of overall standardization; we've got plenty of good iPhone accessories to choose from, but they won't always work together. I don't have a cure to propose for this problem, and I suspect I couldn't use any of the other popular "extension"-type batteries on the market either. But I wanted to warn other Otterbox users that this accessory (like too many others) isn't compatible with the case. I'd also like to ask Giessbach to consider offering an extension plug and cable (with a _correct_-sized plug) as new product line. The Otterbox, I suspect, isn't the only case that this battery (and many other accessories) is incompatible with. I think such a cable would sell well.

I gave the product four stars because a rating was required, and I didn't want to make this product look bad without just cause. In point of fact, I have no experience with it at all beyond trying to force it past the case into the socket while muttering angry words to myself.

I'm impressed with the quality and specs of this battery . . . especially when I factor in the (low) price.

Product shipped and received on time. Nice sleek design, can be charged from usb port or from AC charger (not included). When fully charged, will charge my iTouch once and a half times without recharging the device. Great indicator lights show when charge is complete and how much charge is remaining. Very nice product for the money; the one drawback for using on the iTouch is that you need to remove the earbuds to insert.

This battery is great. It provided a full charge to my Iphone in about 2+ hours. I original had a problem with the first battery that was sent to me. I sent an email to the company stating my issues, and they replaced the battery immediately. The new battery works great. I would highly recommend purchasing this battery because you get both great customer support and a great product.

I bought this product to have a mobile backup power source for my 3rd gen. IPOD touch. The power it provides for charging the ipod is more than enough, but (like the internal ipod battery) can be all too short lived... Although, it seems that when I only plugged the battery in for 15-30 minutes, then removed the battery (repeat as needed), it lasted longer than just leaving it plugged in for a longer period of time.

Now for the downside. For most regular Ipod Touch users I can only imagine this battery is too thick, and bulky. (It must've been "designed" with specifically the IPhone in mind, as it is indeed that thick.) The really bad news (for IPOD touch users, ?IPhone also?)is that, due to the IPOD's design, having the headphone jack right smack next to the power slot, when you have this battery in, there's no way you can have headphones also plugged in at the same time. Anyone that has ever tried to listen to music or a movie through the tiny IPod speaker while in a noisy environment (car, plane, train, etc.) will tell you that, (although having that speaker is a nice feature) ...it doesn't generate anywhere NEAR enough sound to overcome a noisy environment, for that you need a GOOD pair of headphones or earbuds.
The designers of the IPOD need to sit down and address the "headphone jack placement issue" more thoroughly in future models, and move the headphone jack somewhere towards the top of the IPOD, and not "conveniently" (for the designers) right smack next to the power input.
All in all, I suppose that if you were an IPHONE user, (who didn't listen to alot of music, etc. with headphones plugged in) this battery would probably work just fine for you. ...I however, will keep looking for an external, mobile, power source, that DOES NOT interfere with(cover up) the poorly placed headphone jack on my IPOD Touch.

Where this battery DOES score big is it's very reasonable low price. It is by far the most affordable, mobile power solution (that I've seen) available!

basicly turned my iphone into a toast hot black screen that never turned on with all trouble shoots.
dont waste that 20 dollar and go buy a car ac plug for 10 bux and charge at maximum!

While dry camping at a lake for 4 days, the ability to use this battery was very nice. Kept me reading on the times I couldn't be on the lake fishing. The indicator lights let me know how much charge was left in my battery, and the unit worked great to charge up my iTouch for more reading on the Kindle app.

I wish the connection to the iTouch was more secure. Sometimes, the battery will slip off the iTouch. Make sure it's well connected and that you don't jar it while it recharges the iTouch.

Nice little product that is VERY handy!

I bought this for emergency since I got the new Iphone 3gs and it seems that everything you do and need is all in there. So I thought what if I run out of battery and have no were to charge my phone, then all my communication, contacts, games etc will be unavailable.

You can go around with your PC or wall charger but come on you don't want to go around with the electric charger or your PC. + even if you do you don't know that your going to be close to a electric source. So this is were this product rules!!! you have a portable device with fewer limitations than your other charging options.

I used it this week and run over to my PC to right this review.

My mom got in a car accident (small) and I had to go to the rescue, when I got there she got my car and left to a meeting, I was left there alone with my Iphone to wait for the tall truck. Wild I was waiting I used my Iphone to burn time, witch work like a charm. But then I found myself with low battery, since I had been fiddling with it last night (I just got it). So my phone shut down, but once I got to my car I hook the charger and this is the result I got:

From 0% - 66% in 2 hours

I thought this was a lot of time, but then I charger it from my PC and I got the same 66% in 2 hours and 12 min. But For this test I did not let the phone battery deplete completely.

The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is because I found that the battery can come off easily but its not frustrating and also beacuse its not easy to put somewhere to charge, for example: if you are charging in your car it will be very uncomfortable because the battery is a little bigger on the back of the phone, so if you put it on the Iphones back like you normally do because of the protector, then you will fiend that the phone back and the battery are not even. But if you put it upside down then the screen would be moving around and even though I have it with a screen protector I just couldn't stand it.
