3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but doesn't live up to the hype, September 1, 2005

This review is from: The Gift Volume 1: Choices (Paperback)
This vaguely reminded me of the first 100 Bullets volume in that it was a bunch of unconnected stories about people being gifted with something they could use to take revenge/defend themselves/etc. In both cases, if it wasn't for the good reviews, I wouldn't be interested in picking up future volumes. Kirkham's artwork wasn't nearly as polished as it was on the recent Strykeforce mini. It reminded me an awful lot of the rookie pencillers doing work in the early Image days like Anthony Winn and Marat Mychaels. Gregory's narration seemed a bit heavy handed at times, but his dialogue was pretty good. So, in summation, I have no idea where this book is going, but am almost intrigued enough to pick up the next trade.
