The Gift for All People is a celebration of God's gift of salvation wrapped in a collection of inspirational stories. These stories will help Christians comprehend and treasure the assurance of their salvation and will help non-Christians realize and embrace the gift of abundant, eternal life in Jesus Christ. The concluding story, written especially for this book, urges readers to give their lives to Jesus Christ and shows them how to do so. This book will provide Christians with a unique, warm, and attractive presentation of the gospel to give to non-Christian family or friends.
More than anything, God wants you to be with Him. The God who designed your world, the God who placed you on the planet, simply wants you home with Him. And to bring you home, He offers you a gift...the gift of eternal salvation.
My prayer is that through the pages of this book you'll see his gift like you've never seen it.
If you've already accepted it, you'll thank Him again. And if you've never accepted it, I pray that you will. For it's the gift of a lifetime. A gift for all people.
Max Lucado, one of America's most popular Christian writers, has assembled more than 30 of his most inspirational essays in The Gift for All People. Each brief chapter offers a lesson for Christian living based on biblical Scripture. For example, in the chapter titled "Grace Means..." Lucado extracts the phrase, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31). This means "God is for you," he goes on to explain. "Had he a calendar your birthday would be circled. If he drove your car, your name would be on his bumper. If there's a tree in heaven, he's carved your name in the bark." In knowing this truth, Lucado asks, "Could death harm you now? Can disease rob your life.... You are protected. God is for you. And that's what grace means." The pages of this book are filled with words of reassurance such as these, offering steadfast comfort to numerous Christian fans. This book also comes in a gift set with a musical CD and elegant cross.
About the Author
Max Lucado's numerous bestsellers include And the Angels Were Silent, God Came Near, No Wonder They Call Him the Savior, Six Hours One Friday, and The Gift for All People. He is pastor of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. Max and his wife, Denalyn, are the parents of three daughters, Jenna, Andrea, and Sara.
In just under two decades of writing, Max Lucado has accomplished more than most writers hope for in a lifetime. Most of his books have appeared on one or more best seller lists, including those published by the "New York Times," "USA Today," "Publishers Weekly," and the Christian Booksellers Association (CBA). Aside from hardcover books, Lucado's writings have also been published as children's books, videos, CD-ROMs, DVDs, music CDs, mass paperback booklets, apparel, giftware, bookmarks, calendars, study Bibles, workbooks, curricula, and plush products. In spring 2003, Hallmark/Dayspring Cards launched a new gift card line featuring excerpts from Lucado's writings--and has already sold more than one million cards.
All this success has drawn more than a little attention to a previously low-profile Texas author and minister. Lucado has been featured in a wide range of media, including "USA Today," "Larry King Live," and "NBC Nightly News." He has spoken at the National Prayer Breakfast before the President of the United States. He has traveled with internationally renowned musicians as a special speaker on their music tours, such as the highly successful "Come Together & Worship Tour" (sponsored by Chevrolet) with Grammy Award-winning artists Michael W. Smith and Third Day.
Journey to the Top Lucado was born in 1955 in San Angelo, Texas, and raised in Andrews, Texas, the youngest of four children. His father was an Exxon oil field mechanic who, Lucado remembers, always smelled of grease cleaner. "It makes it easy for me to see a God who is loving and kind--because my dad was," he says. His mother was a nurse who grew up working in the cotton fields.
Lucado went through a period of rebellion against his parents' values and their God during his teens and into college. But it wasn't long before he found himself drawn back to his roots, back to God. He married, spent time serving as a missionary in Brazil, and returned to the States, where he began working as a church minister and writing on the side.
Secret to Success From all accounts, Max Lucado is not a man consumed by sales, awards, and achievements. He often turns down media interviews since they impede on family and ministry commitments. He spends the bulk of his week serving as senior minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. And he is truly surprised by his own success--more impressed by his one-in-a-million wife and three amazing daughters than by his successful writing career.

Not only was the book easy to read (big letters, short stories) but it had basic examples correlating with todays life. I like short stories so I complete what I start. I thought just one or two stories a day will satisfy me but once I started I felt so good in my understanding that I found myself telling people what I just read and I finished the book before I knew it. Most of all I finally understood that I am saved. This must sound foolish as I have been walking with the Lord for some time. How did I misunderstand? I didn't understand His grace. What happiness and satisfaction this brings. The book is pocket size and makes a great gift. I almost kept it for myself, but I know better. I recommend you read, enjoy, and make yourself and someone else happy -- SHARE IT! ----- PS. It was a Christmas gift to me.

I received this little gem as a gift from my wife. Each story Max tells will touch your heart. This is an excellent book to buy for yourself or for someone you care about. It's an excellent introduction for someone who hasn't read any of Max's books. It's also a great gift for someone who has read some of Max's books but needs some refreshment. In this little volume, you're getting a first class compilation of Max's thoughts on grace, forgiveness, what the cross means, and other weighty spiritual topics in UNDERSTANDABLE, plain language. The one story in the book that touches me each time I read it is the one about the boy buying a puppy. I challenge anyone who is flesh and blood to read it and not get emotional. This little gem has a number of other wonderful stories that will touch your heart. Thanks Max for an excellent little gift that truly brings joy to the receiver.
