4.0 out of 5 stars A Sinner Saved
Not only was the book easy to read (big letters, short stories) but it had basic examples correlating with todays life. I like short stories so I complete what I start. I thought just one or two stories a day will satisfy me but once I started I felt so good in my understanding that I found myself telling people what I just read and I finished the book before I knew...

3.0 out of 5 stars Short and sweet
Being the kind of person who prefers books that are challenging, I must concede that this wasn't one of my favourite books. The writing is beautiful and thoughtful, however a little too soft on occasion. Nonetheless, the content of the book was outstanding. The most important subject concentrated on was Christ and His work, and it's relation to us. What greater subject...

Not only was the book easy to read (big letters, short stories) but it had basic examples correlating with todays life. I like short stories so I complete what I start. I thought just one or two stories a day will satisfy me but once I started I felt so good in my understanding that I found myself telling people what I just read and I finished the book before I knew it. Most of all I finally understood that I am saved. This must sound foolish as I have been walking with the Lord for some time. How did I misunderstand? I didn't understand His grace. What happiness and satisfaction this brings. The book is pocket size and makes a great gift. I almost kept it for myself, but I know better. I recommend you read, enjoy, and make yourself and someone else happy -- SHARE IT! ----- PS. It was a Christmas gift to me.

I received this little gem as a gift from my wife. Each story Max tells will touch your heart. This is an excellent book to buy for yourself or for someone you care about. It's an excellent introduction for someone who hasn't read any of Max's books. It's also a great gift for someone who has read some of Max's books but needs some refreshment. In this little volume, you're getting a first class compilation of Max's thoughts on grace, forgiveness, what the cross means, and other weighty spiritual topics in UNDERSTANDABLE, plain language. The one story in the book that touches me each time I read it is the one about the boy buying a puppy. I challenge anyone who is flesh and blood to read it and not get emotional. This little gem has a number of other wonderful stories that will touch your heart. Thanks Max for an excellent little gift that truly brings joy to the receiver.

A wonderful book, simple in its delivery but profound in meaning. The message that God loves me and wants me for his child was just the message I needed to hear today.I had read and reread several chapters many times before I finally finished this book. Mr. Lucado makes God's love for all of us truly "The Gift for all people". I will definitely purchase several copies for friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Definite Gift to Give, September 24, 2001

This review is from: The Gift for All People (Hardcover)
If you're a fan of Lucado, you should find each story to be a unique jewel. However, if you've read many of his other books, you may be disappointed as this book is actually a collection of stories you probably remember from his other works. However, the title of this book captures the theme so precisely; a gift. The gift of Grace, there is no greater gift. And this title explains the purpose of this book: to be a gift to others...for those who would feel comfortable with a smaller book... for those who may only have the time to ocassionally read... or where a story needs to be precise in its brevity. This is such a book. One book that sets out to be a gift, one book that succeeds.

WOW! Max has done it again. I am always eager to read and re-read Max's work. As a missionary serving in Puerto Rico, I have used this book as inspiration for teaching and as a witnessing tool to those seeking Jesus. Trully inspired by God and a wonderful gift to all who read it's pages. Thank you Lord and thank you Max.

This book would make a great gift for a struggling believer, or someone on the verge of salvation. The chapters are brief and easy to read, so anyone can find time to read it. At the close, there is a commendable call for salvation, where Max does not beat around the bush.

Also, if you love to love the Lord, this book will provide you with wonderful material for meditation and worship. However, if you prefer an in depth study or a challenging book, you'll need to look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, thoughtful book., June 25, 1999
This review is from: The Gift for All People (Hardcover)
I received this book as a gift and have much enjoyed it. Max Lucado has a wonderful way with words and it's apparent on every page just how much he loves God. I would recommend this book to anyone, I'm planning on purchasing it as a gift to a friend. The last chapter is especially important as he talks about what it is to be a Christian. Definitely a lovely book, a gift to us from Max Lucado and God!

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best... please give it a chance., March 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Gift for All People (Hardcover)
One of the most moving books I've ever read (next to the Bible). Mr. Lucado was no doubt God-inspired in collaborating these stories from other works into this book. What human mind could relay these thoughts in such touching fashion without the intervention of God Himself? How could anyone reject the gift of salvation after reading this book? Certainly a blessing in my life, I pray many others are touched by this work.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice, inspirational read, January 13, 2003
This review is from: The Gift for All People (Hardcover)
I bought this as a gift for myself, and this is my first introduction to the adult works of Max Lucado. (I have several of his children's books, and my children and I have thoroughly enjoyed them.) Overall, I found the little essays in this book well-written and inspirational. I would tell myself I would just read "one or two" as a nightly devotional, and end up reading five or six! His descriptions of God's grace and love for us are beyond compare. I did, however, find his descriptions of Christ's death on the cross almost too gleefully lurid. I appreciate the need to explain just how much Christ sacrificed for us, but I wonder if perhaps Mr. Lucado goes into too much detail? I definitely would not recommend this book for someone under 16 for that reason. Still, this is a great, inspirational book and a great introduction to Lucado's work.
