4.0 out of 5 stars Bliss!
I had heard En Vogue had gone through a line-up change and wasn'y sure if I should buy this album, two of my favourite members had left the group so I was expecting the new En Vogue sound to be very different, and honestly not as good as it was. 1.0 out of 5 stars Horrifying...
I have always been a fan of En Vogue, but let's face it, the girls are over. Their last CD was a complete bomb. Maxine left the group too, and her replacement just isn't cutting it. This CD... well, just keep it far away from the rest of your Yuletide Collection. The songs try to be innovative, but they just end up messy and ridiculous. Please, whatever you do, don't...

4.0 out of 5 stars Bliss!, November 20, 2002
This review is from: Gift of Christmas (Audio CD)
I had heard En Vogue had gone through a line-up change and wasn'y sure if I should buy this album, two of my favourite members had left the group so I was expecting the new En Vogue sound to be very different, and honestly not as good as it was. I was pleasently surprised, infact I was very very impressed.

The sound is different although not that much and its due mainly to Maxine's departure, but the remaining ladies have done an excellent job of finding a new member, her vocals are, well, Rich and Very Very Satisfying.

You get the same feeling after listening to this album as you do when you have a great meal, it's not over-done it's not under-done it's just right!

I will definately be listening to this album in years to come, and I recommend it to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars En Vogue' s Gift Of Christmas Is Totally Fabulous!!!, November 8, 2002

This review is from: Gift of Christmas (Audio CD)
En Vogue is definitely back with one of the best Christmas Gifts ever. I was the first person in town to get the new CD and I must say that the beautiful girls of En Vogue have done it again! My heart is totally warmed by the sounds of Terry, Cindy and Amanda singing Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. The vocal harmony and super-sleek style of En Vogue just makes those songs jump out of my stereo. Christmas classics like Oh Holy Night and Jingle Bells have been taken to a whole new level that only the girls could do.
Merry Christmas Baby is unbeleiveable and the band backs up En Vogue is a way that just makes the idea of the Christmas holidays that much better. Then there is some great new songs sung by En Vogue that capture the feeling of being with your family during the holidays and hanging out by a warm fire. The grooves, harmonies and songs are just what the doctor ordered for those long wintery nights.
I give this album 5 thumbs up and hope everyone goes out and gives themselves...The Gift Of Christmas.
Best thing I've done for myself this year....go girls!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gift of En Vogue, November 18, 2002

I just have to say that I have been a long term fan of En Vogue since the beginning, and I have been heart sick with their absence. The Gift of Christmas, has reinforced what I've always known, and that is that they embody everything that others have tried to duplicate. The stunning vocals, and harmonies between Cindy,Terry, and new member, Amanda, is classic En Vogue. The version of Have yourself a Merry little Christmas, is both creative and soulful. My personal favorite is the dreaming and beautiful Snowy Nights. This is truly a classic in the making. From the cd cover to the inserts inside, its obvious that they are still the most beautiful women around. This is a must have and a great gift to pass on to our family and friends.

I'm so happy to have purchased this CD! En Vogue is back with a new line-up sounding better than ever. The group vocals seem actually stonger and I think new memeber Amanda Cole was a perfect choice!

The CD is very groovy, upbeat, exciting, and there are songs for eveyone! The music, lyrics, and the harmony couldn't be better!

My favorites songs are: Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
That's What Christmas Means To Me
This Christmas
Christmas With My Honey

THIS IS A MUST HAVE CD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best christmas album ever!!!, November 20, 2002
This review is from: Gift of Christmas (Audio CD)
This album is one of the best holiday albums I've hjeard so far. It's really classical En Vogue sound and the new member Amanda Cole is really a very good addition cause her vocals are as strong as the ones of the two left members Terry Ellis and Cindy Braggs. The girls have traditional tracks like the very catchy "Jingle bells", the beautiful "Have yourself a merry little christmas" and the great "This christmas", but they also have new tracks like "Snowy night" as well. The girls harmony sounds better than ever and the CD was produced by their founders Thomas McElroy and Denzil Foster! You surely should buy this album cause it'll give you a fresher and better EV sound than ever if that's possible!

if you are a true en vogue fan or someone who just enjoys really good music, this cd is a must have. i've been a fan of en vogue since the early 90's and i've watched this group evolve and create some really good music. i know some may be disappointed that the original group is not together but the fact of the matter is things change and en vogue is definatly moving in the right direction with this new cd and thier new addition. i commend these ladies for continuing to give our younger generation of girls and women something positive to believe in.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Gift, September 22, 2004
This review is from: Gift of Christmas (Audio CD)
The best Christmas gift these ladies could ever give me is another album with their beautiful voices on it, singing in sweet harmony. With new member, Amanda Cole in tow, these talented women have won my heart once more with this holiday treasure. Christmas is a special time of the year for me and my family and this album will make it that much better.

My favorite tracks are:

HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS (I simply love how they sampled the GIVING HIM SOMETHING HE CAN FEEL beat and melody and re-worked into this holiday classic)

SNOWY NIGHTS (The melody reminds me of Surface's "Happy"; very sentimental)

MY CHRISTMAS [MY KWANZAA] (Love the sample of Love Unlimited's "Walking In The Rain With The One I Love" {originally written and produced by Barry White, R.I.P.}; My favorite line from it is: "Difference is good and it's understood that there is more than Christinas in our house/That's what makes it cool being family/You find the common ground and work it out!". Words to live by!)

MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY (Terry really tore it up on this one, good job Ms. E!)

OH HOLY NIGHT (I've heard many versions of this old standard over the years and Cindy's rendition of it is quite emotional and spiritual)

These women are truly a "gift" from GOD and I'm glad I'm a devoted fan. Simply beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars ST8UPFAN, November 21, 2002

I've been an EnVogue fan since born to sing and I must say the girls have once again out-done themselves."The Gift of Christmas" is one of those Christmas CD's you must have in your holiday collection. The CD has something for everyone age 3 thru 93. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas proves EV still has style and grace. Snowy Nights is smooth with a hip hop fizz that all young hiphoppers will enjoy. O Holy Night and Merry X-mas Baby shows the girls versitility and there's much more. EnVogue has lost a couple members, but new member Amanda Cole steps up to the plate to show the world she has what it takes to carry on the EnVogue torch. Don't sleep on this CD because two members left the group. EnVogue is still alive making wonderful music...THIS IS A BRILLIANT CD!!! Thanks EnVogue you've done it again!
