"A Gift from Daniel" literally fell into my hands at the bookstore. I'm an avid reader, and I love looking for new and interesting books to read. However, I was totally unprepared for the impact this book was to have on me. I was struck immediately by the wonderfully poetic style of the writing, and before I knew it I was drawn into this incredible story. It's not just that it's a fast-paced, engrossing story (it is!), it is also easily the most challenging and foundation-shaking book I have ever read. I mean, I'm no stranger to thought-provoking books that challenge your beliefs. From Bach to Redfield, I have always tried to stay on top of the current new age writing. But I was stunned by the ideas and concepts presented. After reading it (I'm already re-reading it!), I felt like I had found, truly found once and for all, what I had been looking for. How wonderful to know not only that there really is a purpose for our lifetimes, long forgotten, but to understand what that purpose is! How reassuring to know that our soul, a most loving and compassionate presence, waits patiently for us to make a place for it. How frustrating to learn that our social mind, that noisy, critical, self-serving part of us is what keeps us from knowing the truth, that keeps us separate and disconnected from who we really are. Be prepared, however, when you read A Gift From Daniel. This book is definitely not for the faint-hearted. As much as I loved reading it, there were parts that were frightening, and some that even made me angry, when I felt my precious assumptions and beliefs challenged and refuted. But is was worth every minute of it! My only disappointment was when the book ended. For as much as there was, I could tell I had only seen the tip of the iceberg. My hope is that Alexander continues to write, and continues to share what Daniel has to teach us, to remind us, so we can remember who it is we truly are, and how we can find our way home

I just finished reading this book, and I was amazed. A friend encouraged me to read it, insisting it could change my life. I was pretty skeptical, since this whole "new age" thing hasn't really impressed me much. Mostly crystals and empty fluff. Not this book. Not by a long shot. Extremely well-written and very, very powerful. This book is worth the time for just the quality of writing alone. Anyone who has ever wondered "why are we here?" or "is this all there is to life?" needs to read this book. Not just tired old rhetoric, this book gives entirely new insights to our lives, our spirituality, and who we really are. I can't recommend this book enough. Read it. Then read it again. It WILL change your life. It has mine

"Past the wounds of childhood, past the fallen dreams and the broken families, through the hurt and the loss and the agony only the night ever hears is a waiting soul. Patient, permanent, abundant, it opens its infinite heart and asks only one thing of you...remember who you really are."It was this quote from the book that touched me so very deeply. I have always felt that one of the greatest tragedies that has taken place in the history of mankind has been the reduction of the unspeakable beauty of the divine into a fear based philosophy that sums up God with the phrase, "He's out there and he's pissed off!" The quality of the writing in "A Gift From Daniel" is truly a gift in itself. The stunning beauty of this book will serve as a deep salve upon the wounds so many of us carry as a result of having distanced ourselves from spirit. I can't recommend this book highly enough. A definite "must read."
