An Informative History of Guatemala,

"Gift of the Devil" provides a very good overview of Guatemalan history through the early 1980s. I was not very familiar with the details of the country's history before reading the book, and found it quite informative.

I read this book before going to Guatemala in 1997 and reread it when I was there. It's a very informative book for the period of time it covers. I wish Mr. Handy would update the book or do a sequel for the time period since the book. Gift of the Devil is excellent.
