OMG, this was my favorite childhood book, and is still a treasure now. I am now reading this with my eight year old son and hope he enjoys it as much as I did.

I absolutely love this book!!!!!!
The first time I read it, I was about 10 or 11. Twenty years later, and now I'm a teacher and happened to notice that one of my students is currently reading the book. The cover art is still the same with the exception that my version was a hardcover copy. Seeing the book made me reminisce about it and want to find it again. Needless to say, I found my original version torn and tattered from years of rereading. I came on Amazon to find that the book is available as well as the other two books that complete the trilogy! I didn't even know there were sequels! Every urban African-American child should read this book. It's always nice to see/read a heartwarming story that AfricanAmerican children can relate to.

A must read for all age appropriate foster children and for all foster parents. Really helps give understanding to both roles.
