The book is so palatable to children, but fun for adults as well.

Everyone knows about Paul Revere because Longfellow wrote a poem about his famous ride. No one, until now, has written about Jack Jouett, "the Paul Revere of the South", who rode four times as far in order to save Thomas Jefferson, the author of our independence. This is a true story, and not only teaches kids about a significant moment in American history, but also leads them to wonder what would have happened if Jack Jouett hadn't made the decision to make his heroic ride. What choices in life have a monumental impact on your future -- or a nation's future? The book is so palatable to children, but fun for adults as well. I think everyone owes it to themselves -- and an unsung hero -- to read this good little book.

This is an engaging read for adults and children. Not only is the story of Jack Jouett important to our history, but it's presented in such a way that even the most hesitant readers will want to know more. I love it when an author can weave fact and fiction into a story. Nan Coleman, in her debut novel, did just that! Definately a book to get.

So...I'm not really into history or anything related to it but I took a chance on this book. Wow! Was I pleasantly surprised. This was not a boring historical book. It is actually a great story with a lot of facts about Jack Jouett and his ride. I didn't even know I was learning anything until I finished and realized I hadn't known a lot of these things even though I grew up in the Charlottesville/Boswell Taverns area. This is the perfect book for a child to read to learn about this unsung hero!

Nan Coleman writes an entertaining and exciting book about Jack Jouett, an overlooked historically relevant part of our American history. I found the book an easy read and would recommend it for kids and adults. Great job Ms. Coleman.

An excellent union of some diverse elements. In spite of the book cover, the main protagonist of the story is a 13-year-old girl who is learning Revolutionary War history, not only in school but from her grandfather as well. After hearing about the exploits of her ancestor, she decides to go ghost hunting, only to travel back in time and into an adventure with him. The history involved is very well researched, the emotions seem to be authentic, and the outcome seems very satisfying.

I've often thought it would be wonderful to be able to step into my great (however many) grandfather's era and walk with him for a few days during the American Revolution. Without making it seem terribly far-fetched, that happens in this book. I'll not spoil it for you...just recommend it highly. Hang on tight, it's quite a wild ride!

I am from the Charlotte, Prince Edward, Buckingham, Appomattox counties area or Southside Virginia ,so I grew very near to the story setting in Charlottesville.

We all knew who Jack Jouett was as we were taught about his ride in 4th grade Virginia history! As soon as I saw that this book included a Virginia storyline it was a given that I would download it.

The ghost and time travel aspects were good. However the connection between Ainsley and her grandmother was precious to me as it reminded me of my "Grandme" who was so very special to me in this same way. It made me cry and I was totally absorbed in the narrative.

Excellent read which I will pass on to my own granddaughter! :)
