this is a very touching book with exquisite photographs (I'd like to learn this technique). The stories are unforgettable.

I received this book as a Christmas present, and had it on my desk at work for a few days; everyone who stopped by picked it up and couldn't put it down ... and a few tears appeared when people started reading some of the individual patient stories. The photographs are beautiful, and the stories of the children and doctors and nurses are really touching; I have since purchased a few copies to give as gifts myself

Phil Borges has the rare ability to make a still photo speak. If a picture is worth a thousand words, Borges' pictures are an encyclopedia of feelings, experiences, history and cultures.

I recently purchased "The Gift" because I have two other books by Phil Borges -- "Tibetan Portrait" and "Enduring Spirit" -- which both have incredibly beautiful portraits and stories. I couldn't get through "The Gift" without crying; the images of the children are so beautiful and touching, and their stories are amazing. They are all so brave! This is a very special book.

I received this book as a gift ... I've read it three times already, and I go back to it whenever I need a little inspiration!

I had the great fortune of having a friend give me a copy of this touching and poignant work recently. The stories and themes captured by Phil Borges about the volunteers from Interplast and their patients are mesmerizing. I've returned the gift by sending copies of "The Gift" to my friends both within and outside of the medical community.

Phil Borges photos are deeply moving. They drew me into the story of these children--so much so that I bought several copies to give as gifts. This book brings out the beauty of children, no matter what their physical circumstances and the power of individuals working to make a difference. Stunning.

I was so incredibly moved by this book & the story of the selfless gifts given by those who travel around the World to help those in need.

my daughter recently gave me this book for my birthday; it is a wonderful, beautiful book. The stories and images of individual patients are especially moving; my favorite is Ester, one of the little girls treated at the hospital in Peru. there are some wonderful photographs of her comforting her dolls the night before her surgery, tucking them into their own bed and telling them not to be afraid ... she must have been so anxious herself. Her story really stands out in my mind.
