Okay, we were all thinking it... a Christmas album?! But, like you I was put in check. In my previous review on another movement album I mentioned TRUTH. He kicks the CD off with a hot track that adds a little R&B flow. This is one of the things that I love about Cross Movement Records most recent efforts. They are hitting us with STRICTLY GOSPEL, bringing it fresh out the trenches with rhymes that make you say "DEEEGGGGG!", and now even flippin the script by throwing some R&B flava into the mix. It's the best of both world. I also enjoyed that this CD brought a little bit of the entire CMR label. This one is a must have. It's almost February and I am still listening.

When I heard about this album, (and ESPECIALLY when I saw the old album cover, hahaha!) I thought it would be the lamest, albeit well-intentioned, cd put out by Cross Movement.

Then last year around Christmas time, they put samples on their website... and they were actually good!!!

So, as Christmas is approaching, i decided to buy the album. And man, i am impressed and very satisfied with my purchase!

I must say that I (almost) always skip no. 3 Happy Birthday Who- sorry Tonic!

but the rest are worth my purchase. my favorites are 1. Tell You Why, 7. Love Does 11. On This Day- these are very nostalgic/ smooth grooves and just give you a good feeling... like when it's cold and dark outside and your warm inside looking out. Also, 4. Read the Book 5. A Different Kind of Christmas are great. J. Johnson spills some highly Christ-centric verses with a smooth style over this Jamaican beat. TRU LIFE really unleashes his lyrical talent on 5. A Different Kind of Christmas, backed up by nice acoustic guitar for the melody. 6. Wisemen and 10. Invasion Day are sweet. Wisemen has some sweet music and Invasion Day is tight because Flame dishes out this research paper on Christmas Trees and Santa Claus in raw mid-west vocals! it cracks me up, but its still tight. Even the M.O.D. interlude is cool... haha.

I am so glad that I can finally listen to hiphop where the words have meaning and truth. Not some thug or pimp trash talk or some drinking 40's and 50's type crap. Gospel in the form of rap is true knowlege and wisdom that can cause people to truly stop and think about thier lives.

I wish it was christmas so i can bump this album.
This cd is a very solid one. The lyrics are the highlight of the album even tho the production is good. Cross Movement and co present the truth about christmas...and it aint cheezy either.
This compilation is well worth checkin out...and also good christmas present.

This is the perfect cd for this time of year. In this whole cd they stress the importance of remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season. Also, they let you know that it's okay to buy people presents and things like that. The best songs on this cd are #2 with the Amassador and #10 with Flame.

It is better than the Higher defintion CD who was a poor album in my opinion , too much world beat , I mean Jersey and Fitteds is TOO much IN the world (same with Start Something and I'm not of) (They should have made 1 cd instead of 2 ... Holy Culture was also a dissapointment , there was just Cry No More , L.L.R.P and HOLY CULTURE who were powerful song (for me)... Flame CD was really good, not really beat wise but the lyrics were really good , especially GOD MAN, TRUE GOD , REAL ONE, MONEY, GIVE US THE TRUTH , Everybody's Screaming Jesus. But there are other song that were good but those one are my favorite ... 7 out of the 11 songs on the Gift Rap cd are really good

Different kind of Christmas by Tru Life is my favorite song on the album because of the lyrical content ... I am not for the beat (I treat them 2nd), but for the lyrics so if you are looking for a BEAT review album, don't pay attention to my review ... So what I was saying was that Different kind of Christmas is really touching because of the story about the death of his brother , basically the message is that Love is universal and it's not just a word but an action so we have to give love without condition.

- The King Speech's is also a good song I really like when they say : Listen to the King speech , From the cradle to the grave to the day he was raise, everything about his life was the message that he blaze.

-The Wisemen is a really good song ... Basically they are talking like that they were the Wisemen and looking for the most shienest star ... Really good song

-Invasion Day is REALLY good lyrics wise ... The reference in Jeremiah and the Christmas tree + santa claus and the other "dude" that he is talking about is great. I congrat Flame for that nice lyrical song , really nice

- Love Does by the Phanatik is another really good song. "We hear alot about what LOVE is but we don't hear too much about what it does" ... and it continues in that patern , really nice

- Came Down by the Ambassador is great ... "When I was young I used to want alot of presents , but now that I understand christmas all I want is your presence" (So true.

- On this day by R.J is a slow song but with a nice lyrical content. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son and that on that day was the beginning of new life for me and you".

Overall great CD

The 3 Best song by the Cross Movement are FATHER FORGIVE THEM , SHOCK and GIRL NAMED WORLD if you haven't hear those songs go buy the Heaven's Mentality CD (Who's Da Man is really good also) , CHRISTOLOGY IN LAYMEN'S TERM (Ambassador Solo Album) and House of Reps.
