I first discovered this CD in 1995 when I met Joe on a cruise ship in the Carribbean Sea. He was just a passenger like me and I don't recall, sadly, the exact circumstances of our meeting but we got to talking music (me being a guitarist)and he invited me back to his cabin to play me some of his music. He didn't just put the cd on, he played some of it right there on a keyboard set up in his room!! I listened to "Evening in Dallas" and "Messenger" and was hooked immediately! Consider also the fact I was a 21-year-old kid into heavy metal! For some reason Joe's music opened my eyes to a new world of sounds. I went home and found his debut "Grace" and found new inspiration in cuts like "Sunny" and the happy-go-lucky doo wop of "Get On the Right Track". Still, "Gift for Tomorrow" remains my favorite because it was my introduction to Joe. I celebrate his entire musical catalogue however, as well as a special bonus... still have video of Joe doing an impromptu performance in a lounge onboard that cruise ship the last night of the cruise, seeminly ad-libbing vocals during a fired-up blues jam with the house band. I still love loud rock music but Joe Mcbride will always have a special place in my CD collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost In The Shuffle, January 22, 2004

Although I've had this CD since back in 1997, I really haven't listened to it much until recently. I purchase this CD soon after I had purchased Joe's "Keys To Your Heart" CD, but whenever I felt like listening to some piano jazz I usually played "Keys To Your Heart". Only recently have I been playing this CD more and becoming reacquainted with how good it really is. There are a number of good cuts, but 5 in particular that I really enjoy - "An Evening In Dallas", "Secrets", "Walking In Rhythm", "A Gift For Tomorrow", and "Reunion". Kirk Whalum plays sax on the Reunion cut and Dave Koz plays sax on the title cut. This is one I'm definitely going to give more playing time to.
