5.0 out of 5 stars The sound of water!
I think this is an adorable little fountain. Most table fountains I've seen do not generate soothing water sounds, or the pump is too noisy and obscures the water sounds. This one is different!

The pump in my unit is virtually silent, and I did discover that if you put in just the right amount of water, you do actually hear soothing water sounds. Too much...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice but unreliable
I really liked this fountain, the combination of water and fire - but it has no cord so has to run on batteries, which is a downer. More importantly, it died after a couple of months. I've had other desktop fountains which cost the same or less which have run for years.

3.0 out of 5 stars Motormouth, January 20, 2007
I received this fountain as a gift for Christmas. It is a beautiful accent piece for any room, with polished river rocks and four votive candles that set a soothing light. I like that it doesn't come with a cord, but operates on battery power. Therefore, you can set the fountain anywhere.

However, I don't use it as a fountain because the motor is so loud on my unit that I can't hear a trickle of water unless I put my ear right up to it and really concentrate. It's too bad, because the unit is even more beautiful with the water running and the candles lit. I just can't stand the sound! Don't the manufacturers even test these products to determine if they work properly? I'm sure that none of the makers of this product have one running at their home. The sound would drive anyone mad!

2.0 out of 5 stars I don't hear the water trickle, September 23, 2006
If you are buying this product for looks, then do so. If you are buying it to hear the trickle of water gently going down the fountain, don't buy it. You only hear a little hum of the motor(very tiny sound). It is very attractive but the motor may not be strong enough to produce the trickle effect.

2.0 out of 5 stars not so great, October 10, 2006
i bought the fountain and it broke within two weeks. i had turned it on about four times and only left it on for about thirty min. each time. Another thing i didn't like about it was i could always hear the motor more than the water. I've seen fountains before at other peoples houses and I've never heard the sound of the motor out weigh the water so much.

The pump in my unit is virtually silent, and I did discover that if you put in just the right amount of water, you do actually hear soothing water sounds. Too much water, though, and you don't hear the water...I know it sounds strange, but that is my experience.

You may need to experiment with the water level. I put in 20 ounces to start, turned the fountain on, and added water until the sound was just right. It's not going to cover any loud noises, but with the flame of the candles playing on the moving water, on a quiet evening, it adds a lot of relaxing ambiance to the area.

What an eye-catching centerpiece or tabletop decoration! It's compact size means it fits almost anywhere. The best part is that it's cordless (requires two AA batteries). So it goes where you go.

3.0 out of 5 stars Item was much smaller than I pitured., January 17, 2007
Item was much smaller than I pitured. Instaead of making a center piece for our kitchen table, we had to put it on one of our end tables to accomodate it's very small size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent small fountain, January 10, 2011

I bought this fountain for christmas. This is a wireless fountain that you can put anywhere. I really did not notice it took batteries until I opened it up. The fountain is small but a good decoration you can setup anywhere. You cannot hear the water but it still looks good when it runs and you light the candles. I would recommend this for anybody looking for a portable small fountain. We use it on the Dining room table when we eat and adds a very nice look to any table or wherever you wanna put it.

this worked for about a week. then it stopped running. the motor is louder than the water, and you can't hear the trickle at all. it leaks, so don't put it on a wooden table. basically you're paying for a cheap tea light candle holder.
