5.0 out of 5 stars Great to share with teachers, July 9, 2010

I have a gifted son who is also underachieving in school. His teacher wanted tools / better understanding of how to teach him & get him motivated again (our years vary with each teacher). This book gives excellent examples of how gifted kids are (to help her understand him) as well as several suggestions for the classroom. I've made many of the suggestions in the books, but I think it's also good for them to see it from another source that isn't a parent.

This addresses behaviors of underachievement and can give the teacher information that he really is acting 'normal' for the type of learner he is, and offers suggestions and strategies to try to engage the children again.

It also addresses concerns with misdiagnosis & dual diagnoses so they can see overlapping characteristics that are gifted, but may also lead schools to feel there is another problem. There are strategies in there for teaching the twice exceptional student as well.

It is an easy book to ready and understand and hopefully will work well as a springboard to help my son's teacher and I communicate better and create a better school year.
