O henry's holiday related stories make a great subject for this musical. The music is well written and the music tells the story...you dont need any dialog to follow along. The love story of The Gift of the Magi and the comedy of The Cop and the Anthem are masterfully combined using the theatrical tool of a narrator (in the form of newsboy, Willie) and the chorus (in this case a man and woman representing all of New York).
By the way, the voices of all these actors are PERFECTLY suited to this style of music.
