Grade 3-6?Children will be drawn to the gift ideas in this book and, fortunately for the adults who are on the receiving end, most of the finished products are attractive, useful, and original. None of the 43 crafts require exact measurements, hard-to-find items, or the use of dangerous tools, and the clean, uncluttered format makes the volume attractive and easy to use. Materials needed for each craft are pictured in a large box at the top of the page, and concise, numbered directions and full-color illustrations lead readers through the process step by step. Projects are divided into nine categories. "Gifts for the Car" includes directions for a clever "Expandable Map Holder"; "Gifts of Jewelry and Personal Decoration" has a unique "Spaghetti Pin" fashioned from uncooked pasta. A popular item will be the "Designer Planter," using two clear plastic cups with artwork slipped between them. Teachers on the lookout for simple gifts for students to make will appreciate this title as much as children.
