Power line Adaprters,

Power line is the way of future. I hear these are being used for Cheap Internet Access in Singapore and parts of Thailand by the upcoming ISP'sThere are 2 models. USB model is best if you But if other wise I suggest purchasing a Bridge model which is extendable. All the Required accesories come in the box and you will not normally need any thing except your System... I have been using these for the Last 6 months and they never failed. The Throughput is good and installation is a breeze. Gigafast seems to have a lot of help on their site for installation and much info is sent in the box. Security is a bit low and I dont suggest them for Multi Dwellings if the Power is shared between 2 adjoining Apartments. But beware of the rebates being Promised by Gigafast. I did not receive the rebate for two adapters I have purchased as on date after 6 to 8 months. Raja

3.5 years, still going strong,

I bought a pair of these in April 2003 and they've been in continuous use ever since. I just disconnected them today as I've gone completely wireless. They have always "just worked" - I've never had the problems the previous poster mentioned (about broadband). The machine on the remote end was able to get an IP address via DHCP (sent from a WRT54G) without issues. Note that you can't plug in a hub or switch to this and expect to have multiple network connections on the remote end (at least, I was never able to). At varying times I've had (individual) computers, tivos and slingboxes hooked up, though, and they all worked fine.

Even the install instructions ignored the restrictions (broadband needed). We had to get the sad news from the tech reps after spending a lot of waiting time for someone to respond and admit that the equipment is not able to perform under conditions that are less than optimal. I would say the glowing reviews appear to have been faked. The only good part of the transaction was the no question asked return by amazon. However, I am still waiting on the credit to my credit card.
