I'm trying to use this board for a custom router I'm going to be building with Pfsense. The problem is that this board is giving me some headaches. I got mixed feelings for this board since the specs show it to be good performer for the price it's at, but it is rather new tech so it's buggy.

Using the F1 BIOS is a nightmare as it would randomly not boot when I had to restart the system. The times it does boot and run it the board is a very good performer.

As of right now as I write this, I saw that Gigabyte has released a new F3 BIOS just recently that said it would address a lot of the issues plaguing the F1-F2 BIOS. The problem is updating the BIOS itself is a pain as it doesn't seem to recognize the USB drives that I put the new BIOS into. I had to turn off UEFI and some other modes in CMOS to get it to see and read the USB stick.

I will keep this review updated as I fully try out the new BIOS before I place my final verdict. I would also suggest people thinking of buying this board to wait awhile till Gigabyte throws out more stable BIOS first.

*****Update 10/05/2014******
Called Gigabyte to ask them what the recommended PSU is need for this board and they said 275 watts or higher. That's a rather big power requirement for such a lower powered board such as this. I wonder if the issues plaguing me right now is because I lack power since I'm using a 150w PSU. Hmmm....

*****Update 10/06/2014******
For some reason, the x64 Pfsense version will not install on my new systems even though Intel states this board's CPU is 64bit. The 32bit version installed fine.

*****Update 10/08/2014******
Good news and bad news.

Pro
- low power
- amazing amount of processing power for the money
-dual lan

Con
- new CPU, not (yet) widely supported/reportedly buggy BIOS [-1 star]

Summary
- new tech is almost always painful to get up and running; this was no exception
- successfully running OpenBSD for firewall/router/DNS server
- the way I (finally) got it running was to update the BIOS, install the OpenBSD on a virtual machine (using a physical drive), then applied a patch [search for "Re: [PATCH] workaround buggy ACPI tables in some Intel boards"] to the kernel source code, recompiled, verified the system bold boot on the VM, then attached the drive to this mobo and got it to boot.

I was hesitant to buy this motherboard, because of the reviews. But now that I got it, I love this motherboard. I want to make it very clear that it works great. The setup was easy and I was running windows 7 in 60 minutes. Because of my job I am comfortable with BIOS and UEFI so it was no problems. I did not even have to flash an update on the BIOS. I am so happy with this motherboard that I am buying another one.
NOTE: It can support to display out to a dual monitor set up. My monitors are 2 24” monitors, with great resolution.

I bought this board a couple days ago to become a new firewall for a client. This runs pfsense like a dream! The only con I have is that the nics are not Intel. This is ok though for the application. An interesting thing about this board is that it has its own memory based command line. I did not have a use for it, but it is definitely a very advanced feature for a ~$100 board.

Used this for a firewall build. Through in 4gb of RAM and a 2.5 inch HDD installed it in an ITX 1u server case. It stays at 29 degrees celsius most of the time. PfSense loves the dual NICs and they work perfectly. The board is silent which is a plus and its cool, which is even better!

I bought 2 of these and 1 of then the clock does not run. I have tried to reset the BIOS a few times but have not seen any change. In the BIOS you can see the clock never moves. I loaded Linux on this but then the Grub countdown is supposed to be happening it never moves.

My only issue with this board is that the second on board 9 pin serial port is putting out 11 volts DC on pin 3. This is a constant voltage after windows loads. It also applies the voltage in the Windows 7 installation environment. I have 4 of these boards and 2 of them have this problem and 2 of them don't. This is only on the second(bottom) port. My reason for purchasing this board was because it had 2 9 pin serial ports. So I ended up installing a PCI serial board anyway. Other than that the board works fine.
