I built a backup PC to my main rig about a year ago using a Gigabyte UDH5 socket 1155 with an i5 2500k, and it ended up being faster than my main rig with an EVGA board and Intel i7 920! That rig, being 2 and a half years old, and slower than the backup unit, inspired the urge to upgrade again. So I looked at some boards by Asus, Evga, and Gigabyte, my 3 favorites, and found that in the Z97 class that Gigabyte boards offered more bang for the buck. They are quality through and through. Now the only boards I will use, and I was sold on Asus boards for most of my past builds. I have not explored the full potential of this particular board as yet, but after only 1 day of operation, I know it will be amazing. I just did a motherboard and processor swap, and had a little trouble getting back into Windows 7, but as of 3:30 AM last night I had Windows back online and the drivers for the new board up and running. First thing I noticed was the sound quality from the Soundblaster audio chip, much richer sound than from the generic Realtek on my old board. Will do a clean install of Windows on a new SSD I am waiting for, and I can't wait to overclock the I5 4670k I have on this board. But even at this point, the board is rock solid, despite my currently wobbly old installation of Windows from 2 and a half years ago. Only "problem" I have encountered so far with this board is the lack of color coding on the audio jacks, but I soon figured out the proper plugins for my 7.1 surround speakers. There is an extra fan header near the CPU socket, to accommodate some of the newer water coolers, plenty of fan headers elsewhere, a power and a reset switch, and a dual BIOS so that users can save two different BIOS profiles. Features one would expect only in much higher priced boards. I can tell, even at this early stage that this build will be my best yet. I highly recommend this, and other Gigabyte boards to anyone desiring to build a new power system.

I have nothing bad to say about this board. It's rock solid and easily overclocks. A great performing board that matches it's more expensive competitors. Just check the benchmarks. It even surpasses higher cost boards in many tests.

This board has been absolutely fantastic for me. The LEDs are a nice touch. Overclocking is smooth. The power button was handy during the build as it let me test the components without having to wire everything up. Nothing about this board feels cheap. Although I wouldn't recommend it, it feels like you could drop it without worrying about breaking it. Other reviewers have stated concerns about the heat sinks being fastened to the board with plastic clips instead of metal screws but they are in no way flimsy. My only complaint would have to be that the software that comes on the disc is ugly and obviously was not written by anyone who had English as their first language. Additionally, the Start Menu replacement for Windows 8 is too slow to be practical. In the end I uninstalled it all, opting to overclock and tweak strictly from the BIOS.

It supports OCing like a champ on my i7 4790k. It's gotten it up to a nice 4.6 GHz and the board's holding up fine. I absolutely love Gigabyte's OCing options and how their bios works and this was clearly a good buy since it was on sale. My one complaint is that the board refuses to give a proper reading on the CPU temperature at the higher ranges, giving the CPU a very high value which wasn't the right one. This problem developed after a month or so of heavy use so It's just something to watch for because having to disable temperature throttling is something I didn't want to do, but found necessary.

worked right out of the boxed full bios update to F6 read my newly I7 4790k that i ordered with it bios settings are more detailed and can finally use the mouse in the bios easily overclocked the cpu to 4.3.

but i don't know why the windows performance tool doesn't show that its running at 4.3 ghz, bios says it.

also note if you don't plan to use the internal graphics turn it off in bios other wise it'll take up some of your ram.

Gigabyte takes firm aim at Asus ROG product line, steps up but doesn't quite pass it yet. Finally a reasonably priced MB with both mouse and keyboard ps/2 ports! That's one of the types of things that makes me upgrade my MB. Now please add a couple more sata ports on the MB, one esata.

fantastic thus far... i am in love! though.... the design sometimes leaves it hard to hide all the rat nests of cords. but it is great looking and the bios is fantastic. great board, i recommend it to everyone.
