The graphics look crystal clear, and there is nothing I've thrown at it that it hasn't handled effortlessly.

I was able to purchase this after the price drop! Best 509$ I ever spent, well maybe that is a bit of hyperbole, but the performance on Battlefield 4, and really any other game is truly amazing.

I only went with such a high end card as I am running a 2650x1600 monitor, and I am still able to pull 40fps in Battlefield on Ultra. I suppose if I got a second one I could surpass 60fps, but I also could get the same thing by turning the graphics down a bit. On ultra it is quite hard to see what is happening, due to the PhysX and other graphical effects that are occurring.

If you search youtube for scpaperhat, you can see some of the examples of the gameplay footage with the 780. They were taken with the ShadowPlay feature that is built into the NVidia driver. Quite amazing, it doesn't have a giant effect on framerate, and being able to record 60fps, 1080p is quite nice!

>>>>>> EDIT>>>>>>

The card has failed after 5 months, I have mailed it back to Gigabyte once already and they claimed No Trouble Found. When I put it back inside my computer the problems persisted. I have been running a friend's card for the last 2 weeks with zero crashes, with this card I am experiencing about 7-8 crashes per day. I am unsure what to do as Gigabyte doesn't seem to be able to resolve the issue. Super upset.

>>>>EDIT>>>>
After wrangling with the card for 7 months, I have replaced it with a GTX 780Ti...The computer is able to run with both cards installed, but the Gigabyte GTX 780 just sits idle. I am going to try to return the card after the first year, as Amex has an extended warranty.

To the people wondering about the build.

this is my first ever review so i'll keep it short, if you want a gtx 780 take Gigabyte, the fans are extremely silent you barely hear anything, and the heat during gaming is a lot lower compared to my friend's EVGA 780, his fan's noise is a little louder than mine

Absolutely fantastic and quite a jump from the GTX 680.
The card comes overclocked and with a little further overclocking (easily done with
included software), Call of Duty: Ghosts runs around 60 fraps at 2560 x 1440p with most
of the bells and whistles cranked in the graphic options menu. While overclocked, the card
runs silent.

I upgraded from an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 because that card simply couldn't drive a 2560x1600 monitor (Dell U3014 UltraSharp 30-Inch).

Overclocking is always a mixed bag with no guarantees, but I got mine up to 1176MHz effective (1024MHz core base) through Gigabyte's OC_GURU. This required changing the power target to 105% and enabling over-voltage with a maximum of +250mV. And yes, it stays at that speed in games when required (e.g. running Age of Empires II doesn't kick it out of low mode, but loading up BioShock Infinite does). It survived several hours of Unigine at higher speeds, but stuttered and froze in BioShock Infinite. Newbies beware--just because it works in benchmarks doesn't mean it's stable in games!

The card never exceeds 70C under load. Keep in mind that having a card directly underneath its PCI-E slot WILL increase temperatures by 5-10C. I have an empty slot beneath it on purpose. It is also relatively quiet.

For those who have sufficient amperage on the 12v rail, 6-to-8 pin PCI-E power adapters work fine with this card. Even after heavy use, a good quality adapter will not get warm or give off any suggestion that it is melting. The extra pins on PCI-E 8 are grounds--my research indicates they don't even carry any current!

This card is long, 1.5" longer than my last card (11" vs 9.5"). Keep that in mind if your hard drive bays are in front of your GPU. In my case, the Thermaltake Armor has enough wiggle room, but smaller cases might need to either temporarily move hard drives or even relocate them to accommodate this GPU. It is a half-inch longer than the stock GTX 780 due to its cooler.

Really good card and solid overclock speeds. I am running this card in a pcie 2.0 slot because amd boards do not have pcie 3.0 yet, and it runs like charm.

I recently just bought two of these to replace my two r9 290x's because I really wasn't happy with what I was getting out of my cards for a tri monitor set up. I poped these two puppies in and right away I can already tell the difference. This was a no brainer should of never left nvidia

Love this card! Was up in the air as to which 780 series I wanted to get but ended up deciding on this one and I'm very glad I did. As said in some other reviews, this card runs very quiet even when pumping out three screens running Ultra high graphics on games such as tomb raider or High graphics on the Witcher 2. Thinking of getting another in the future for a little overkill for my system.
