This review is from: Gigaherz (Audio CD)
The album "Gigaherz" by Nemesis begins with strong synthetic rhythms and hypnotic beats which deeply plunge the listener into the pulsating and continually changing music world created by the talented Finnish electronic trio. This time brings new unexpected challenges and it is not known what mankind will be tomorrow. But we know one thing, that this world never will be the same as it was before. The time of global changes is closer and closer. Climatic shift and dramatic cataclysms must help every human being to realize that the future depends on each of us and people have to care about our Earth and stop selfishly, and in an exploitative manner, despoil its subsoil. But first every person must change his mind... The rich and tuneful music of Nemesis recalls the best representatives in the electronic music genre such as Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, Brian Eno, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Mythos, Steve Roach and many others. And with it Nemesis has his own peculiar signature. It is characterized by laconism and even minimalism in musical means. But at the same time the music of "Gigaherz" is filled with inner expression and hidden emotions which burst out irrepressibly like volcanic eruptions or explosions of a supernova. Besides, the compositions of Nemesis have dramatic qualities. "Gigaherz" is the 7th original album of the prolific Finnish group and it can be characterized as Nordic Ambient. The members of Nemesis are Ami Hassinen (synths, guitar, bass, sound effects), Jyrki Kastman (synths, keyboards, effects) and Joni Virtanen (keyboards, synths). I'd also like to add here that the various sound effects on "Gigaherz" are very expressive. Even though the music of "Gigaherz" was composed between 1996 and 2003 this album is a fresh and truly bright release in the electronic / ambient genre. Serge Kozlovsky [...] |
