Product Description

Quarto is a quick play strategy game. The playing pieces have eight features which must be observed and managed while playing. These include: Tall, Short, Light, Dark, Round, Square, Hollow Top, Solid Top. Any given piece has exactly four features. Each piece is unique.

Play by selecting an unused piece and give it to your opponent. Players never gets to choose which piece they want to play. They can only play the piece given to them. Be very cautious that you do not provide your opponent a piece that allows them to win.

Win QUARTO by placing the last piece in a row of four pieces where there is ONE common feature among all four pieces. So always watch when there is a row of three pieces already on the playing board.

Easy to learn game. Easy to show others how to play. Game requires careful observation. Strategy for success takes practice. Recommended for ages 7 to 105 years.

Wood board measures approximately 10 inches square. Sixteen wood pieces are either 2.25 inches tall or 1.5 inches tall. Base is 15/16 inch.

You can learn the rules literally in seconds, no need to study a manual. The game seems very simple - you don't need language or math skills. That what counts is strategy and being perceptive. After a couple of rounds when you and your partner figure out how it goes, you can really see how multidimentional it is and it is not that easy.

I tried it once at party (even it is meant for two players). People were rooting for the player they expect to win and so on. It was lots of fun (if you like strategy games).

According to the box you should keep the game away from 0-3 years old children but the pieces are about the size of duplo blocks. I have a 15 month old at home and I really can not see how she could choke on it. Pieces and the board are wooden.

Just not as challenging as I had expected. Within a few rounds we had figured out the limited number of moves and options.

This is a good game, but not as challenging as I anticipated for the child I purchased it for compared to simple checkers.
