Something For Everyone to Look Forward To,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Gigantour (DVD)
As another reviewer said, this is a rare opportunity to see Dream Theater play Panic Attack and The Glass Prison live, as it will not be included on the Score DVD. I think they chose these two because they wanted to play some heavier material for the crowds that Megadeth and Fear Factory attract. And as a bonus, Symphony X will be playing Inferno, which is a big plus for any DT fans who haven't check them out yet. Aside from the prog metal portion of this DVD though, Factory and Megadeth fans will get to hear some DT and hopefully will like it. It's going to be a great experiemental DVD for both sides of the spectrum, and people like me will get the best of both worlds. But who the heck is Bobaflex? Like I said, a good experimental DVD with something new and exciting for everyone. Add the bonus features on the second DVD, and you've got yourself quite a sweet deal for the price.

A Must-See DVD,
By
This review is from: Gigantour (DVD)
I saw Gigantour in Boston, and was absolutely blown away by almost all the bands. Dream Theater is one of my favorite bands, as is Symphony X (who did not play in Boston). If you love Symphony X, this is your only chance to see them on DVD.
If you did not get to see this tour, or if you were unlucky like me and didn't get to see all the bands, you MUST get this DVD![...]

Unorthodox Metal Line-up,
This review is from: Gigantour (DVD)
With my all time favorite Megadeth, Fear Factory and progressive metalist Dream Theater in tow, you can't be wrong. In this DVD, I became an instant fan of Nevermore and Symphony X. Hope that they will be releasing thier own DVD soon. All in all, this is worth watching except I just can't bear watching Bobaflex...Anyway, I will be waiting for Gigantour 2 since all the lineup is awesome with Arch Enemy, Opeth and Soulfly....Hope that it will be realsed soon....
For now, enjoy the first offering by Dave Mustaine.....

A must have for metal fans,
This review is from: Gigantour (DVD)
Highly recommended! A fun and entertaining DVD from beginning to end.
Disc one has full length live performances from many of the tour's bands. Highlights include three classic Megadeth tunes, with pyro effects included, rare Dream Theater tracks, Fear Factory debuting brand new material, and high speed versions of two newer Nevermore songs along with the best singles from the second stage bands. It's a blast to watch the rabid fans in action in the crowd. Disc Two is packed with interviews, back stage footage, praks, a Pyro lesson, tour bus tours, and a tribute to Dimebag Darrell, and the Gigantour softball game featuring commentary by Mike Piazza.

Forget about Ozzfest,
By Björn Everfrost (North From Here) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gigantour (Audio CD)
Dave Mustaine is my hero! Not only has he written some of the best music on Earth, but he created probally the greatest concert ever. While Sharon brought mallcore to Ozzfest, then weak scene bands or trendy metalcore, Dave knows his stuff, and brought together godly bands like Nevormore, Dream Theatre, Fear Factory, Opeth, Anthrax, Arch Enemy, and of course, Megadeth.
Please, everyone stop going to Ozzfest, and instead go to Sounds of the Underground and Gigantour. You will thank me later.

I agree with the reviewers here...With the pedigree of bands playing here, and the dvds they have released before ( rude awakening, live at the budokan etc.) I felt a bit shortchanged by what i got here, production and performance wise...Bobafuk n Dry kill shouldnt even be here. The other bands are good, but I wish Deth had done the extended version of She wolf and we had some more songs from DT and Nevermore. Also, considering this tour was close to 4 months long, the potential for a good chunk of Bonus material was immense...like band interviews and Gear talk ( check out the ARCH ENEMY DVD..I bought it along with this and it smokes )...The only good thing on the bonus disc here is the cemetary gates cover.

I have seen megadeth 3 times on headlining tours, but none as big as this tour. Unfortunately, they did not come around my neck of the woods when this tour thundered across the USA. However, with this DVD, you can experience at least a small flavor of what all most of the bands had to offer. Spearheaded by Megadeth, and the brainchild of Dave Mustaine, this concert grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until it's over. Other highlights are Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Life of Agony, Nevermore, Symphony X, Dry Kill Logic, and Bobaflex. The glaring omission on the live DVD is Anthrax, but that does not deminish from the power of this tour, and the excellence of this DVD. The CD and the DVD are all currently very reasonably priced, and should be added to the collections of all fans of Metal and Musicianship. Plus, the bonus dvd with backstage and behind the scenes muckary is nice to see that the bands were having fun, as should you watching the show. Highly recommended.

With OZZFEST dominating the summer "Metal" tours, Dave Mustaine's Gigantour went through many towns without much promotion and push, and what a shame. This is a metal fan's Magnum Opus, and Megadeth has outdone itself again. Sure, several of these bands are aged, and on thinning members, but the music stands for itself. Headlined by Megadeth, surrounded by Dream Theater, Anthrax (who were shafted as a special guest on Rob Zombie's kiddie tour), Fear Factory, and Life of Agony. All of these bands are Legends. Then add a little new blood with Symphony X (not that new, but fresher), and Nevermore, Dry Kill Logic, and Bobaflex, this album and tour is bursting at the seams, ready to run down the throat of the world.
The DVD is also a very nice companion to this CD. Both combine to help folks like me unfortunate enough to be living in a city the tour did not touch experience it's power. GET THIS ALBUM IF YOU LOVE TO ROCK, THRASH, and ROLL with the best. Update 5/1/2008: As I was purchasing Gigantour 2, There are still a few of the 3 disc (2cd/1dvd) version of the cd still available at a large retail chain store. The bonus dvd that comes with the double cd features about 15 minutes of extra behind the scenes footage, a neat companion to the Full DVD

I bought this DVD because Dream Theater plays The Glass Prison on it. It is the best live version I've ever seen, and at times I'd say that it's better than the album version. I'm not into most of the bands on the DVD, so I can't fairly judge their performances. However, Symphony X puts on a great show with their two songs on here.
