Book Description

May 2003
Gigging for a Living is the only book that tells what it is really like to make a living playing music. This isn't the information yuo are going to find on the biography shows on VH1 and MTV about rock stars living in mansions and going to rehab for the third time. This is a series of interviews with 15 independent working musicians that gets to the heart of what it's like to make a living making music when you are not (or not yet) an MTV poster child.   This book is for. . .

. . .working musicians looking for perspective on a career choice that is often exhausting, confusing, frustrating, and rewarding (all in the same day). Learn how other musicians deal with these issues and find some balance in their lives.

. . .aspiring musicians who want to know what it’s really like and what lies ahead. Learn from the mistakes and successes of musicians out there in the trenches. Are you musically, emotionally, and financially prepared?

. . .friends, fans, girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, wives, siblings, mothers, and fathers of musicians trying to understand what makes their favorite musician tick. This is an unprecedented opportunity to get a glimpse inside the tight-knit community of independent working musicians.

Steve has done an excellent job of interviewing working musicians and telling their story. I have passed this book around to several of my musician friends.
