Book Description

6 and up

The world's smartest people can't stop laughing. Is this the work of the crazy criminal Dr. Chuckles? Only Secret Agent Dingledorf (the country's greatest agent, even though he is just ten years old) can find out.

Together, with super cool inventions (that always backfire), major mix-ups (that become major mishaps), and the help of Splat the Wonder-dud, er, Wonderdog, our hero winds up saving the day...while discovering the importance of respecting and loving others.

From Booklist

Reviewed with Bill Myers' The Case of the Chewable Worms .

Gr. 2-4. These slim titles borrow the Captain Underpants formula of nonsense, gross-out humor, nonstop action, and kid heroics. Elementary-schooler Bernie, aka Secret Agent Dingledorf, has been chosen by a secret organization to fight crimes. In Chewable Worms, villains have convinced the world that worms are irresistibly tasty, and suddenly the planet is overrun with crawly creatures. In Giggling Geeks, evil Dr. Chuckles tries to sap the planet's most intelligent population by letting loose a virus of unstoppable giggles that afflicts people with high IQs. The flimsy, silly plots are backed up with even sillier details (Bernie receives messages from his beeping underwear and meets with his agency supervisor in toilet bowls), and there's a less-than-evolved approach to gender (in Worms, "Dad always grunts. With three daughters yakking away all the time, that's the only sound he can squeeze in"). But kids will like the action and wild laughs, and they'll likely forgive the heavy messages to respect individuality and to help others. Lively black-and-white drawings add to the humor and appeal. More About the Author

Hi.
Thanks for checking up on me. Probably best to go over to my web site: www.Billmyers.com for biography information. And if you're really bored, there's my fan site over on Facebook:
www.facebook.com/pages/Bill-Myers/44983396181 Oh, and one last thing. If you're a student and your class reads one of my books, I'll do a 'meet the author' 30 min question and answer session by speakerphone with your class from my office here in California. If you're a reader's group, the same thing goes...in which case I'd recommend ELI to really get the discussion juices flowing - at least until THE GOD HATER comes out in 2010. Thanks for stopping by!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Case of the Reluctant Reader., May 29, 2007
By
This review is from: The Case of the Giggling Geeks (Secret Agent Dingledorf Series #1) (Paperback)
I bought the whole series at a book fair last year and they were a little too advanced for my son. I pulled them out for the start of summer this year and my just turned 7 year old has devoured them. He's read three in three days and can't wait to keep going. (This is the boy that had to be FORCED to read for 15 minutes.) I just wish there were more of them!

I was really impressed to figure out just today that each book includes a bible verse. The verse reflect the moral theme to each book. It led to some interesting discussion questions about why the author picked that verse for the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was great after all!, February 18, 2006
This review is from: The Case of the Giggling Geeks (Secret Agent Dingledorf Series #1) (Paperback)
My seven-year-old son said that when he first got it, he kept on reading the first chapter and thinking it was awful. Then one day, he read the whole thing and thought it was great!
