1. Use the cardboard collar - it will eliminate huge messes on the unit itself, thus lengthening its life
2. Be sure to use the appropriate type of wax for your hair density and skin type
3. Save money and purchase the roll of muslin instead of the pre-cut strips
4. Coat your legs with medium coverage (not too little, not too much) of baby powder prior to waxing
5. The Gigi Wax Remover smells great, has a nice consistency, but in most cases, it's just not powerful enough to remove left over wax on your body and surfaces, so baby oil is your best bet
6. If you get the Brazilian Hard Wax, DO NOT (I cannot stress this enough) use it with muslin strips - it is ONLY to be quickly pulled off with your hands instead. This tip will save you wasted muslin, time and a lot of pain
Most importantly, take care of your new warmer and it will take care of you.Read more ›
There is a knack to doing your own waxing but I think the more you do it the easier it gets.
I purchased the GIGI Wax Warmer, GIGI 13oz. Azulene wax; GIGI Small Accu Edge applicator sticks; GIGI Natural Muslin Epilating Strips; and
the GIGI Clean Collars. EVERYTHING I purchased I needed. I did not buy the wax off stuff because many reviews stated baby oil or olive oil
worked just as well -- guess what? I used olive oil -- bingo, it works great to get the residue wax off. I so looked forward to my next
waxing ... oh!oh! one negative: to get the plastic cover off the GIGI 13oz. waxing canister -- holy cow, it took forever since the cover
was stuck to the hard, cold wax; it reminded me of like caramel being melted and then turning cold ... all gooey.
I made a mess trying to get it off ... so ladies, be prepared
Function - I love the various settings on the warmer and I typically heat mine to about an eighth over the medium setting.
Warm-up Time - I use the hard body wax. I agree it does take about a half hour or so for the wax to warm but I would rather it warm slowly than too quickly and risk burning my skin (yes, it can get that hot!). Who waxes in a rush anyway?? I must say, however, that the setting has something to do with the time it takes to warm up - the higher the setting, the less time it takes. My unit is several years old and I'm inclined to believe that the older the unit, the longer it takes to warm, regardless.
Mess - There is no mess when using the warmer. Occasionally, if I'm not paying attention, I might lose a drop or two on the side of the warmer or my bathroom counter but you can easily pick those off with your finger nail after the wax dries.
Savings - The price on the GiGi warmer is fantastic as is the price for the cans of wax. No doubt this unit alone will pay for itself in two applications and the wax will pay for itself in one. I usually go through a can of wax in about 14 months and that is just using it for my face (which is all I wax). Amazon has the best price on the GiGi wax warmer.
Cons - I can't think of any!
If you have never waxed on your own, it might take a couple applications to get figure out what temp setting works for you - the lower the setting, the thicker the wax.
I have been waxing every other week for the last 3 years. The salons charge approximately $25 per full-face session. I don't have to leave my home to wax and I've saved almost $2,000 using the no-hassle warmer.

warms up pretty slow. It usually takes at least 1 hour to start melting my wax. It's probably the wax I'm using.Published 9 hours ago by Shelly
