In an effort to provide provocative late night programming to Showtime, sometimes actor Richard Grieco masterminded a project entitled "Gigolos." Charting the lives and adventures of five call boys in glamorous Las Vegas, this reality program strains for credibility. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the idea of a show documenting the profession of male escorts. In fact, I think it's a refreshing change of pace amidst the landscape of cable soft core adult entertainment to focus on a few guys for a change. However, nothing about this reality series seems the least bit real.

The clients (often labeled with professions as diverse as elementary school teachers or nurse's aides) don't seem like likely candidates to have hundreds of dollars to spend on high end escorts. Some even improbably live in palatial estates or rent extravagant suites for the occasion! No downturned economy here. A remarkable number of these clients also seem to already have a professional film career (if you get my meaning) with their willingness to disrobe, show off their surgical enhancements, and have sex on television. You'd think that professional businesswoman and everyday housewives and mothers might be a bit more prudent about what they allowed to be broadcast on national television. But any doubts about the legitimacy of some of these adventures is squashed by the most obviously fake encounter of the season. One of the guys meets a client in her office (sparsely furnished with rental furniture) and has sex loudly with a secretary right outside the door. Of course, there is a convenient hidden camera in the outer office (how'd that get there?) to capture her reactions to the lovemaking noises. It's silly and harmless titillation, I suppose, it just isn't particularly real.

What you're left with is the guys. Do you want to spend time with them? Of course this being forced reality, they hang out together as friends. A particularly painful episode had one (Steven) throw a temper tantrum because his friends didn't celebrate his birthday in the right way. Even though they tried, he stomped about like a petulant child. Sadly, he was probably the most relatable character until then as a struggling father separated from his child. We also have Jimmy, whom I actually liked well enough--a well rounded individual who made the move from stripping to escorting and is at peace with his choice. Then there is Nick who might be pretty enough to look at, but seems incapable of intelligent conversation. And Brace, an aging lothario, who is his own biggest fan. And enthusiastic Vin--a newcomer to the profession that doesn't get quite as much development (although he does get a ludicrous storyline where someone pays him a gigolo fee to attend dance classes).

Of course, the show might generate a fair amount of interest just on subject matter. If the topic appeals to you, try to sample an episode or two. I can't imagine anyone would want to watch this more than once, so investing in the DVD isn't an easy recommendation for me to make. KGHarris, 8/11.

Set in Vegas, this show follows the hopes, dreams and real life inside lives of 5 male escorts and their agent. Garrett-an ex-model and gigolo himself, set up the agency 'Cowboys for Angels' with the realisation that was there is a market for very attractive straight men (most of them are ex-models and you can see why) for the older and more sophisticated, busy single woman. They are all distinct characters,Brace, an older but still attractive man trying to find answers in spirituality.Nick - a somewhat arrogant would be rap artist Tom Cruise (but much better looking) lookalike,Steven,a real gorgeous cutie with a soft heart and a natural aptitude for understanding the needs of the fairer sex.jimmy,a totally off the charts, pulse racing hottie, with a twinkling smile and quick mind and Vin,the sexy newest recruit who wants to learn more about women. This show is worth watching just for the tottie, and believe me,by the end of the series even women who never would have considered seeing an escort will be pondering it,and checking available bank account funds.
Showtime have done a really good job of making a watchable and enjoyable docu drama. The banter of the escorts as they sit in the bar together mulling life, their jobs and their clients is often hilarious and at times, moving. This is mixed in with one on one head shot interviews with the men,and meetings/sex scenes with their clients, which vary from the normal,to highly unusual.A 'cock cage?'
If you're a woman you will love the sex scenes which are shown in a soft porn like atmosphere and focus on the men making sure their clients are satisfied with the emphasis on passion and female fulfilment more than anything else featuring normal sized, average females
All in all,a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable masterpiece from Showcase

The series takes you through some ups and downs of the profession of male escourting with some genuine feelings from the guys along with some compromising and strange fetishes from the women who hire them. All men show off their bodies quite a bit with just as much female nudity. This would be considered nc - 17 in my opinion, not quite an x.

I love this show! The guys are funny, warm & SO hot and sexy! I enjoy the conversations they have with each other about their clients more than the actual sex scenes. I agree with everyone else about how the clients are not really, they're actresses & it's all scripted. But it's still fun to watch, especially Brace, my favorite. I highly recommend this show.

I enjoy this series. The men are fascinating. I particularly recommend giving this DVD as a bachelorette gift as it's exciting and a wonderful conversation/action starter for couples.

These fun male escorts are dumber than a box of hammers. They have a unique way of looking at what they do for a living and I am not sure even they can explain it. Very funny.

It was good, but disappointed that the DVD started to get a disruppted picture and no sound and stopped at 2300 while watching the second to last episode.
