Best Aid for Torts!,
By
This review is from: Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts (Paperback)
By far this is the best aid for torts if you are looking for some extra help before exams. Not only does the book explain things very clearly and help with outlining, but the questions and practice essays are PERFECT.
Simply doing the questions in these books will be a solid day of review that is sure to boost your confidence when you walk into your torts exam! A must have for law students!

Better than Emmanuels, but could still use a better index,

If you're trying to decide between Emmanuel's outline and the Gilbert one, I suggest always going with Gilbert's. The Gilbert lecture on cassette/CD is good, too.
The Gilbert outlines seem to always seem to have better/more examples than Emmanuel's. All of the outlines are still frustrating to me. I prefer the Finals series - shorter, sweeter & lots of practice test questions.

Buy Early, Study Late,

This review is from: Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts (Paperback)
This book is not just a study guide for last minute cramming. I recommend you buy it early in the semester and use it as a companion for the entire course (coming from someone who bought it in November and is kicking himself). Reading this book after you have read and briefed your casebook will give you a nice little summary of the topic you're studying. Yes there are outlines. Yes there are practice questions. But this is also a great way to prepare for each class, not just the final.

Solid summary of first year tort topics.,

This review is from: Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts (Paperback)
I think Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts is a solid commercial outline. I am glad I spent the money for it. I used the book for my first year torts class. I found the book to be useful as a review resource once I spent time reading/briefing the cases. Buy it and use it as a supplement, not a replacement for class prep and case briefing.

An L1 must have,
This review is from: Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts (Paperback)
This summary is very useful; it will increase your understanding of torts as well as your exam scores. It is organized quite well and is easy to read. The numberous charts are very helpful when time is short.

Better than Emanuel's,

This review is from: Gilbert Law Summaries: Torts (Paperback)
I had both Gilbert and Emanuel for torts and tried using both. By far, Gilbert is superior (in torts, at least; may not apply for other subjects).
My textbook just glossed over the intentional tort stuff, so I depended entirely on Gilbert to fill in all the gaps. Negligence stuff is solid as well, but if your class/instructor is jurisdiction-specific (as mine was) you may have to look further than just Gilbert to point to the right black letter law.

I bought this book as part of the The First Year Program which contains a total of five outlines (Civil Procedure, Contracts, Criminal Law, Property, and Torts), plus Gilbert's Dictionary of Legal Terms and Gilbert's 8 Secrets of Top Exam Performance in Law School by Charles Whitebread. It got me through my first year of law school and I highly recommend them to all first year law students.
