Comfortable blades, last one week,

I'm new to DE shaving. My beard is thick and coarse. I tried a sample pack, and found most blades were terrible for me. They cut me, or were not very sharp and didn't last more than 4 shaves. Gillette blades start out smooth, actually get better after a couple of shaves, and work well for one week. I can shave in my "normal" fashion, with or against the grain; it doesn't matter with these blades. Gillette Platinum blades are also very good; I have both. I only cut myself if I am careless and drag the blade sideways. Also, I'm a thin guy, with a bony chin; with Gillette blades, I have no problem getting a close, yet safe shave.Hint #1: Use a silver tip badger brush. Worth $60! Hint #2: Until you get use to your DE razor, use a cartridge blade to shave your "problem" areas, so you don't cut yourself. Hint #3: Never re-shave over skin that does not have lather; re-apply with your badger brush.

Don't believe the inexperienced shavers,

These are great razors. They are my favorite, even over the platinum, with my second favorite being the Feathers. I've seen some people say these aren't as sharp as Derbys. While blades are rated on sharpness, most agree that Derby isn't very sharp. That's not a bad thing as Derby is a great blade for some people. That's just the thing, it all comes down to your beard, your skin, and probably even your oil levels. It also depends on the aggressiveness of your razor and, probably to the least degree, your cream. To give these blades low scores because they didn't work for them (especially if it is due to bad technique or because it isn't a good fit with your face) is wrong. These blades are fine quality, they are just all different. My advice if you are new is try a sample pack. You may want to even try something like a Derby at first until you get your technique down and then try others. I would also advice you shave daily, at least at first, so you don't have something too thick to battle at first. Then you can dig into your back.

I tried these blades on my first experience with safety razor wet shaving. I got no cuts on my first shave, so I can definitely recommend them. Keep in mind that I viewed mantic59 you tube videos, as well as others on wet shaving before attempting my first wet shave. Remember to go with the grain on your first 10 shaves before trying to go against and across the grain.I am never going back to those over priced cartridges after having a great experience with wet shaving. Products I recommend: - Proraso Pre/Post shave balm - Proraso Shaving Cream Tube

I use a parker 82R and find these razors to give a really close shave. I've also used Shark, Wilkinson, and Astor blades -- the 7 o'clock blades are definitely the best of the bunch. Noticeably sharper -- two passes with a Gilette leaves my face much smoother than 4 passes with the other blade. Also, quite forgiving despite their sharpness. One other point: I found that the blades do lose a considerable amount of their sharpness (perhaps more than other blades) after their first use. But still a fine razor.

I agree with Dr. Aldo Laghi, the Gillette 7 O'clock Double Edge Safety Razor Blades are one of the best. They are smooth, sharp and pleasant to use. I find them VERY forgiving, while still producing a very close shave. Surely worth a try.

i have tried Merkur, Gillette shark Wilkinson in the last 2 weeks using Merkur and shark razors both fixed angle and adjustable angle , both butterfly opening as well as solid head .i am an engineer and do a lot of research for a living. i treated this project just like I treat my work projects. the results are best blades are Gillette 7 o'clock they work extremely well with any of the razors i give them a score 10 out of 10 second best are the Wilkinson they work well with the adjustable Merkur razor as well as the butterfly Shark i give them a score of 8 out of 10 next way down are the Merkur and Shark i put them on the same level because they are not usable : lots of nicking and bleeding with any of the razors. i give them a score of 2 = useless as for the razors i score them here on ease of handling: how they feel in your hand best is the shark butterfly type long handle fixed angle on the blade i give it as core of 6 adequate but uncomfortable next is the Merkur adjustable Angle, fixed head i give it a 3 as it can be used but it is very head heavy and the rather short handle makes it difficult to handle next is the Merkur fixed blade and fixed head i give it a score of 0 = useless as the short handle makes it almost impossible to shave

The shave started out fine, and really, I didn't cut myself with it (contrary to popular opinion in many blade reviews, cutting yourself is normally the result of a dulling blade, and not of one that is sharp). So that's probably a point in its favor. I just couldn't get a satisfactory shave, though, in areas that I felt I shouldn't have that much of a problem with. I expect the chin to be a bit of a problem (very angular chin and jowls). But I don't expect, on the third pass, to still find myself seeing stubble after I've relathered once again and stretched the skin as taut as it will go. So, of blades tried so far, I would still have to go with Feather in first place, followed by Derby, Wilkinson, and then this Gillette.

I'm new to safety razor shaving so I bought a variety pack of razors a while back. After going through a few different blades, many of which I threw out after one use, I settled on these. Surprise! Gillette still knows how to make a good razor. They are sharp but they also they do not overly irritate. The only downside is for some reason the first shave on each blade tends to be rough on my skin, maybe it's just my technique, but I don't look forward to it.
